JOB PURPOSE:
The Credit Manager is responsible for overseeing Blarney Castle Oil Co.’s credit and collection policies. There will be a heavy emphasis on partnership with Blarney Castle Branch Offices, and a need for exceptional customer service to help minimize credit risks to the company.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
- Experience building professional relationships internally and externally.
- In-depth knowledge and experience working with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Strong analytical skills. Please be able to combine complex or diverse information into unified and shareable documentation.
- Excellent writing skills are necessary.
- Must have a high school diploma to apply for this position.
- Accounting degree preferred but not required.
- Experience dealing with seasonal customer needs and prioritization.
- Be able to calculate figures and amounts as a discount, with interest, commissions, and percentages.
- The ability to plan and manage time effectively is a must.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills. Manages difficult or emotional “customer” situations. Responds promptly to customer needs. Responds to requests for service and assistance.
- Must be comfortable speaking to all customers, peers, and company leadership, and be able to alter your communication style based on need. Be able to manage difficult or “emotional” customer situations, while still responding promptly to the customer’s needs.
MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Handle NSF checks from Dealers and C-Store operations, while producing analysis on bad check performance for review by controller/ownership.
- Drafting and distributing collection letters to delinquent customers and informing the credit bureau.
- Complete credit references for businesses that want information on their potential customers.
- Complete Credit Checks on Transunion for our new customers.
- Respond to credit requests on behalf of vendors that want credit with Blarney Castle Oil Co.
- Review Budget to ensure customer is on track for the season.
- Review end of year customer budgets to ensure a refund or a hold of funds until next season, is not needed.
- Process requests for payroll deductions for home heat.
- Review employee pricing discounts.
- Be the main point of contact, while developing personal connections with CSR/Managers and external customers.
- Partner with Wholesale Accounting Team Lead to research any customer concerns or issues. This role is very hands-on when the customer needs some extra attention.
- Prepares and maintains weekly accounts receivable watch list.
- Timely meets commitments.
- Promptly responds to customer requests and calls.
- Miscellaneous projects as assigned.
ORGANIZATION STRUCTURE AND FUNCTIONS:
- Possess the ability to be polite but firm with customers while also using common sense to derive the best path forward to collection.
- Works with all branch offices to drive collaboration, communication, and customer support.
- Consistently provide thoughtful, caring, and sincere service.

PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
- Work is performed in an office.
- Frequent manual hand and finger dexterity work.
- Lift up to approximately 50 pounds, stoop, bend, reach, and continuously walk or remain in a standing position for extended periods.
- Reading alpha-numeric data on electronic devices and documents.
- Minimal travel required to partner with company Branch Offices and staff.
