Commercial Loan Credit Analyst / Loan Processor

  • Role: Performs commercial loan annual reviews on existing business relationships by reviewing submitted financial information from borrower in compliance with credit union member business policy. Interprets financial information to make recommendations on credit quality and assesses borrower risk. Provide support to commercial underwriter by spreading financial information onto credit presentation for new commercial requests as needed. Manages interactions with commercial loan account borrowers to facilitate answering questions on existing commercial loan accounts. Assists in the communication and transmission of information to both contracted Credit Union's as well as third party vendors. Provides a supporting role to commercial loan processing as needed. May provide support with business development for NDBS as well as the credit union.

    Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

    25% - Performs annual reviews on existing commercial loan accounts which require yearly loan credit quality assessment in accordance to member business loan policy. Assessing the borrower's year-end or interim financial information to determine overall credit risk factors as determined by the 5 C's of credit. Providing substantive written narratives based on spread financial information offering meaningful insights and credit recommendations from information obtained.

    25% - Provides additional resource for the ordering of attorney work requests and collateral valuations, loan document preparation, scheduling of commercial closings, and coordination of additional information that may need to be obtained to ensure timely closings. Has user access to obtain credit reports, flood certifications, environmental reports, and appraisals when needed.

    20% - Assist with processing financial information onto commercial loan spreadsheet for new commercial loan requests when needed.

    15% - Supports commercial loan processing by assisting in other essential duties to help maintain quality of existing commercial loan accounts and ensure they maintain loan compliance. Provide support for processing loan payments, reversals, modifications, payoffs, discharges, file maintenance and registry filings.

    10% - Knowledgeable in opening new business accounts in Episys core system. Complies with commercial loan file maintenance, record retention and NDBS filing systems.

    5% - Performs other job related duties as assigned.

    Performance Measurements:

    1. To ensure the commercial loans are in accordance with established credit union policy and federal regulations.

    2. To develop recommendations for cost efficiencies and enhancements to products, pricing, and processes by monitoring trends in operations.

    3. To maintain a professional, courteous, and friendly atmosphere for members, co-workers, and clients.

    4. To troubleshoot and resolve member, client, and internal inquiries in a timely, friendly and accurate manner.

    5. To maintain a dependable record of attendance and timeliness.

    6. To comply with requirements of the Bank Secrecy Act, NCUA Rules and Regulations, and any other regulations pertaining to the job as described and credit union operations.

    Knowledge and Skills:

    Experience - One year to three years of similar or related experience.

    Education - A two-year college degree or completion of a specialized course of study at a business or trade school or 5 years of experience.

    Interpersonal Skills - Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization for the purpose of first-level conflict resolution, building relationships, and soliciting cooperation. Discussions involve a higher degree of confidentiality and discretion, requiring diplomacy and tact in communication.

    Physical Requirements - While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, occasionally stand and walk (including up and down stairs), use hands and fingers, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear. The specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.

    Work Environment: The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
