  • Position Purpose: Evaluate and analyze the financial condition of businesses and individuals applying for credit in order to estimate the degree of risk involved in extending credit requests.  Responsible for financial statement spreading, reports, summaries and opinions for bank officers on new and existing loans.   Essential Duties:  (These are the primary duties for this position) Gather and analyze all available financial and industry data on potential bank credits, to include data provided by credit bureaus and bank files. Study economic trends in firm’s industry or branch of industry to predict probable success of new customer as well as existing customers. Prepare the following reports for tax returns and financial statements; Cash flow analysis; Industry comparisons; Comparison of previous years financial data; Exposure and Payment analysis; Trend analysis; and Forecast reports. Prepare written report of results from data analyzed, and recommend credit limitations to management, as well as risk grades. Provide technical advice and assistance related to analysis function, to loan officers and management as needed.   Other Duties:  (Additional things necessary to assist) Review bank loan policy and procedures as they pertain to the analyst function. Assist and/or train co-workers (with lending authority), in regard to the cash flow function and computation of ratios. Assist Federal and State auditors as needed. Performs special assignments and other duties as required by supervisor. Assist other areas of loan department as needed/required by supervisor or co-workers.   Training: (Training required to be fully proficient in this position) Taxanalysis software for use of all functions. Sageworks/Abrigo software. Taxanalysis seminar/conference. Bank workshops/training as scheduled by management. Outside courses which pertain to banking, taxes and all aspects of credit as needed. PC software training to include Word, Excel, etc. (any updated versions). Bank Secrecy Act Privacy Act Other compliance training as assigned   Communication: (Requirement to communicate orally and verbally) High degree of external and internal contact with people at all levels requiring excellent skills in both verbal and written communication.  High degree of mathematical communication skills required.   Knowledge/Skills: (Any particular academic levels, years of experience or required skill.) College degree with emphasis in Business Administration or Accounting strongly preferred. Related course work in finance, statistics, computer systems and credit systems or functions. Two - three years banking experience strongly preferred. Working knowledge of software, such as Sageworks/Abrigo Taxanalysis, MS Office Suite, and various credit bureau programs. Must be knowledgeable of the Bank Secrecy Act requirements and will be held accountable for complying with the Act. Ability to analyze financial statements and commercial credit reports, tax returns, both personal and business, as well as global cash flow.  Effective oral and written communication skills as well as organizational skills. Decision making/problem solving skills. Ability to deal positively with customers and employees of the bank at all levels.   Working Conditions: (How much time is spent standing, sitting, talking, use of hands, requirements to lift maximum amount and frequency) Job is performed in an office environment.  The majority of the time will be spent stationary at a desk.  The daily use of a computer will be necessary.  Occasional filing of documents weighing up to 15 lbs. may occur.  May be required to attend training at locations outside of bank.   To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed under the knowledge/skills section are representative of the knowledge, skill set, and/or ability required.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
