PRIMARY PURPOSE:
The Sr. Underwriter will report to the VP, Commercial Lending and play a crucial role in evaluating financial risks and ensuring adherence to sound credit practice. This position requires proven strength in underwriting Commercial Real Estate loan portfolios to include the primary asset types such as retail, industrial, multi-family, medical office, and self-storage and must possess strong cross-functional collaboration with peers, management, and other stakeholders. The ideal candidate is an expert in performing detailed analyses of creditworthiness, financial profiles, and credit risk levels and plays a significant role to the commercial real estate lending team culture to ensure it is consistent with the mission, vision, and values of CBC Credit Union.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and ability required of an individual to satisfactorily perform the essential duties of this job.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: A Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Business Management, Accounting, or related field. Minimum of seven years of experience in Commercial Real Estate underwriting.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work area is well-lighted, heated and/or air-conditioned indoor office setting with adequate ventilation. The noise level is moderate.
WORK SCHEDULE: Onsite in San Diego Required, Workweek will be approximately 40 hours with some overtime as needed. Occasional attendance at meetings before or after scheduled hours may be required. Management reserves the right to change any employee's work schedule to meet the operational needs of the Credit Union. Furthermore, management reserves the right to reassign any employee, either temporarily or permanently, to work at another credit union location.
TRAVEL: Minimal travel required, less than 5%.
