SUMMARY
Our innovative and growing fuel company is looking for a Credit Analyst. While this is our ideal list of attributes and experience, we will consider candidates that do not necessarily have all the qualifications but have sufficient experience and talent.
The Credit Analyst collects, reviews, and analyzes data to prepare detailed credit analysis that evaluates the terms and creditworthiness of trade credit applications. Uses multiple sources of information, including financial statements, collateral, credit scores, and cash flow analysis, to assign risk ratings and complete an analysis of the applicant’s financial status. This position will report to the Credit Manager and work cross-functionally with multiple departments to expedite account maintenance requests and new account set-ups. This role requires a high level of confidentiality in accordance with company policy and department procedures.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- This role is heavily focused on understanding the applicant’s business and financial status through analyzing data.
- Gather and analyze credit applicant financial data to evaluate risk and assess creditworthiness of individuals, companies, and institutions.
- Identify fraudulent credit applications and escalate to management.
- Apply strong organizational skills to manage follow ups and meet deadlines.
- Support a high volume of internal/external requests by following a defined credit strategy.
- Answer a high volume of incoming calls, emails, voicemails, faxes, and online requests.
- Process assigned cases and opportunities in CRM (customer relationship manager).
- Perform account maintenance and scheduled credit reviews for existing accounts.
- Manage the over credit limit and gallon watch report.
- Document credit analyst activity and customer interactions in required software.
- Identify and report any financial exposure to the Credit Manager.
- Comply with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations and company policies.
- Other duties as assigned by the Credit Manager.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES
- High school diploma or equivalent is required. Degree in accounting or finance is preferred.
- Three (3) or more years of customer service and business to business credit/collections experience is required.
- Credit Business Associate (CBS) or higher designation from the National Association of Credit Management is preferred.
- Experience in finance or accounting to understand the customer’s financial position and operating results.
- Effective interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate with coworkers and influence customers.
- Strong customer service and negotiation skills and the ability to remain calm and professional under difficult circumstances.
- Quick learner with demonstrated critical thinking skills used to analyze information and solve problems.
- Able to work independently and effectively prioritize work.
- Strong project management and organization skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office/Office 365 software and tools.
- Experience with Sage 100 ERP, CRM, Nextiva, Salesforce, Bectran, Experian, NACM is a plus.
- Able to perform general math functions (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) to compute percentages, discounts, and balances.
