    Role Summary/Purpose:

    The role of Vice President, Credit Risk Conformance is responsible for managing and executing an independent oversight framework for Synchrony's Credit organization. This include a risk based periodic and systematic testing of the end-to-end credit lending processes across all of Synchrony's businesses, platforms, and portfolios over a 12-48 months cycle. The VP will also manage and coordinate the completion of periodic approved small deals excluded from concurrent assessments requirements by the Live Deal. The role reports to the SVP, Credit Risk Oversight.

    Essential Responsibilities:

    • Works with the SVP, Credit Risk Oversight and other cross functional risk teams on the development of annual testing plan

    • Manage and execute independent testing of end to end or process specific aspects of the credit lending life cycle including review of key controls and processes to assess conformance to policies and procedures, and assess adequacy and effectiveness of controls in place

    • Familiarity with the Interagency Guidance for Credit Risk Review

    • Owns the delivery of the Credit Risk Conformance annual plan

    • Present to the Credit Risk Sub-committee and/or the Enterprise Risk Committee, meaningful credit risk or key control weaknesses and themes observed in conformance testing

    • Track and drives action plan completion and issue closure in accordance with Issue Management procedures

    • Review Credit provided RCSAs, RAQs and PRCs and independently assess accuracy and completeness of risks and controls

    • Review and propose update of the Credit Risk Conformance procedures at least annually to the SVP, Credit Risk Oversight

    • Manage key stakeholder relationship including General Managers, Platform Chief Credit Officers, credit managers, client credit, finance managers, marketing lead

    • Collaborate with other cross risk pillars leads on possible thematic issues or emerging risks

    • Provide mentorship and development to junior members of the team or other risk colleagues as part of a Critical Experience project

    • Support regulatory meetings, examinations and internal audits of the Credit and Credit Risk oversight processes

    • Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned

    Qualifications/Requirements:

    • Bachelor's degree in Risk or Accounting related field (Business, Economics, Finance, Accounting, Math/Stat, Operations Research, etc.) and 5 years of relevant Risk, Credit Audit, Credit/Loan Review/Conformance, credit underwriting, portfolio analytics experience; OR 8 years of experience in financial services or related field.

    • At least 3 years of people management experience within financial services or consulting or credit audit.

    Desired Characteristics:

    • MBA or certification preferred(FRM, CFA, CPA, etc.)

    • Demonstrated ability to effectively challenge and influence

    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

    • Ability to work independently in fast paced environment

    • Previous experience in independent oversight role or credit area

    • Excellent interpersonal skills - ability to foster relationships and build informal networks without compromising independence

    • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and work to tight deadlines

    • Demonstrated experience analyzing business data with the ability to distill large amounts of information down to the critical areas of focus

    • Ability to create and deliver business presentations and communicate effectively

    Grade/Level: 12

    The salary range for this position is 110 000.00 USD Annual and is eligible for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance.

    Actual compensation offered within the posted salary range will be based upon work experience, skill level or knowledge.

    Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA, NY Metro and Seattle.

    Eligibility Requirements:

    • You must be 18 years or older

    • You must have a high school diploma or equivalent

    • You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process

    • You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.

    • N ew hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles. Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months' time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles. Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 18 months' time in position before they can post. All internal employees must consistently meet performance expectations and have approval from your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don't meet the time in position or performance expectations).
