Redwood Credit Union is looking for a Payroll Manager who will be responsible for setting priorities and performance of daily Payroll functions, while providing day-to-day management and leadership to Payroll team members. Oversee data and information related to the preparation of payroll, Retirement, EPIP, management reports, and audits for RCU and RCUSG. This includes evaluating the impact of new and evolving labor laws, payroll changes, accounting changes and design procedures, as warranted.
Essential Functions
Administration
• Delegate, coordinate and review work to ensure quality and timeliness.
• Set daily, weekly, and monthly priorities to ensure Payroll is providing appropriate service to internal and external partners, while meeting all expectations and requirements of the department.
• Responsible for making sure all payroll reports, audits, reconcilements are being performed in an accurate and timely basis.
• Evaluate, design, and implement operationally effective payroll/accounting processes and controls, as warranted.
• Counsel, conduct performance evaluations, train, motivate, discipline, and assign duties for Payroll/Accounting staff.
• Conduct departmental meetings to disseminate pertinent information, and discuss procedures, policies and/or problems to ensure optimum teamwork at all times.
• Coordinate the development and maintenance of written Payroll/Accounting Department procedures.
• Recruit and interview applicants and make recommendations for hiring.
• Collaborate and assist team members in other departments to prepare for significant business opportunities,
Payroll Operations
• Maintain the payroll processing function to include managing employee payroll/timesheet records, review input, ensure payroll systems are correctly updated in a timely fashion, maintain centralized payroll/HR records and oversee distribution of paychecks.
• Document, maintain and keep current on all payroll procedures. Cross train payroll backup on all applicable payroll functions.
• Ensure employee and HR change requests are correctly updated in the payroll system to include changes in wages, tax status, withholdings, deductions, direct deposit, and all other miscellaneous changes.
• Coordinate and interact with federal and state agencies on issues pertaining to employee compensation, general deductions, benefits, and retirement.
• Process terminations, leave buyouts, out of sequence paycheck conditions, paycheck advance reimbursements, and involuntary deductions such as employee levies and garnishments.
• Maintain payroll database to include setting up accounts, add/edit/delete employees, reset passwords, special pay codes, etc.
• Organize, review and submit forms as appropriate associated with federal, state and local authorities, such as W2’s and compensation records for the Department of Labor.
• Research, analyze and resolve payroll-related problems or questions including investigation and resolution of questions and discrepancies in paychecks.
• Automate recurring payroll management reports and develop new recurring reports as requested by Accounting/Finance, ERD and RCU management.
• Oversee the employee incentive program (EPIP)/Merit process and make appropriate recommendations to managers.
\nThe ideal candidate has a combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree, with a minimum of eight years of experience processing and managing payroll in either an Accounting or Human Resources department. UKG experience preferred.
Base starting range: $109,000 to $143,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
