    Full Job Details:

    This position is responsible for the management of the Collections group and to preserve TruWest Credit Union’s assets in a cost-effective manner.  This position is also responsible for fostering an empowered work environment that allows staff to provide spontaneous service excellence to members, employees and business associates demonstrating the values shown on TruWest’s Vision, Mission and Values card.  Follow credit union policies for compliance with all laws and regulations, specifically, but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, Security Policies and Confidentiality Policies.

    Qualifications:  

    Education: Bachelors degree; a combination of education and exceptionally strong experience may be substituted. 5 years prior collection/supervisory experience in Asset Recovery or Agency/Attorney environment.

    Experience: Ability to function effectively in a highly stressful atmosphere. Must have excellent verbal and written communications and negotiations skills. Must have ability to analyze basic financial statements, possess advanced knowledge of local, state and federal regulations for consumer lending, collections/recovery industry, including Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), Bankruptcy and probate rules /regulations, seizure and litigation. Strong knowledge of computer software applications including Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Highly motivated, well organized and detail oriented.

    Knowledge and Skills: Additionally, individual must have demonstrated management skills in the area of staff development and motivation, business development, product development and management and supervising large work groups. Requires intermediate knowledge of computer software applications including:  spreadsheet, word processing and presentation applications. Requires strong working knowledge of Federal and State Regulations and lending/mortgage related products.  This position may involve minimal business travel.


    Essential Duties and Responsibilities
    :

    1. Front and Backend Collections
      1. Directs and coordinates activities of the front-end and back-end (late stage, pre-charge-off) collection effort relative to the assigned direct and indirect loans, in order to control delinquency and credit loss at or better than TWCU budgeted goals and objectives.

    2. Recovery
      1. This position’s principal goal as it relates to recovery is the cost-effective management of the collection activities associated with Consumer and Real Estate charge off portfolio.
      2. Contribute to new ideas on recovery tactics to the VP of Lending. This will include outsourcing methodologies.

    3. Agency/Attorney Collection Management – Bankruptcy and Legal-Repossessions
      1. Individual must have the knowledge and skills to manage all aspects of the operation of collection agency function.
      2. Ensures compliance of all functional areas to all local, State and Federal and internal regulations governing the collections/recovery industry (including FDCPA and Bankruptcy laws).
      3. Extensive knowledge of legal and bankruptcy laws, rules and regulations.
      4. Create, develop and implement effective strategies to ensure maximum recovery of charged-off receivables.
      5. Evaluate the performance of the business; analyze internal and external MIS to identify business risks and opportunities to ensure optimal portfolio profitability.
      6. Strategically select law firms and agencies as business needs dictate.

    4. Additional Duties
      1. Individual is responsible to ensure completion of daily/monthly reporting along with administration of the collection and dialer systems.

     

    Secondary Duties and Responsibilities:

    1. Knowledge of Consumer lending policies, procedures, documentation, and laws affecting each type of loan.
    2. Develop professional skills and ability to deal with outside law firms and agencies on potentially volatile situations and/or disputes.
    3. Individual is responsible to ensure timely assignment of repossessions and disposition of the collateral.
    4. Individual will contribute to the on-going evolution of collection and recovery strategies and monitors Collection Center effectiveness and fosters an environment of continuous improvement through human resources and process management.
    5. Individual leads the human resource management process of recruiting, evaluation and training in the Collection Center and provides both formal training opportunities and on-the-job training for collectors in the department. He/She is responsible to meeting the staffing level standards defined through the capacity planning.
    6. Follow credit union policies for compliance with all laws and regulations, specifically, but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, Security Policies and Confidentiality Policies.
    7. Perform other duties as assigned.

    This position requires frequent travel to off-site locations and minimal travel to out of state locations. A valid driver’s license and up-to-date auto insurance are required.
