Credit and Collections Director leads the overall credit function. Designs and implements processes to improve cash flow and reduce receivables. Being a Credit and Collections Director develops policies regarding the investigation of customers, extension of credit lines, and collections. Consults with current and future clients regarding their level of credit. Additionally, Credit and Collections Director oversees the negotiation and course of action taken for overdue accounts. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Credit and Collections Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. To be a Credit and Collections Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience.     Part-Time, 19 hours per week

    General Statement of Duties:

    Performs clerical accounting duties for bills incurred for Burke County EMS, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the moderate supervision of the Central Collections Manager. The normal work schedule includes Monday through Friday 8AM-5PM.

    Essential Duties and Tasks:

    • Processes mail, email, letters to patients regarding garnishment, and telephone inquiries
    • Enters delinquent accounts into the IRS system.
    • Collects delinquent ambulance bills for private insurance and private pay.
    • Posts payments for walk-ins as well as payments by mail including insurance payments.
    • Notifies customers who are delinquent by mail; Enters delinquent accounts in debt set off system (IRS) Prepares correspondence to customers who are delinquent.
    • Updates amounts in the debt set off system after a payment is made Follow up with insurance companies and employers by phone.
    • Mail or fax attorneys with insurance requests.
    • Enters information into Centralsquare billing from signature forms received in the mail and set to file Inform patients of returned checks.
    • Prepares paper insurance claims.
    • Checks Employment Security Commission (ESC) for patient wages Works garnishment review list
    • Enters and set up employers in billing software.
    • Performs related duties as required

    Desirable Education and Experience:

    High school diploma or GED and moderate experience medical terminology, medical billing, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Physical requirements include:

    • Must be physically able to operate a variety of machinery and equipment including computers, copiers, printers, facsimile machines, calculators, etc.
    • Must be able to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and up to 5 pounds of force frequently, and a negligible amount of force consistently to move objects.
    • Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for Sedentary work. Light Work usually requires walking or standing to a significant degree. However, if the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for Sedentary Work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated Light Work.

    Sensory requirements include:

    • Work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing ideas by means of the spoken word; and hearing is required to receive detailed information through oral communication and/or to make fine distinctions in sound.
    • Work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data.

    Environmental Exposures include:

    • Work has no exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
    • Work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic)
