Credit and Collections Director leads the overall credit function. Designs and implements processes to improve cash flow and reduce receivables. Being a Credit and Collections Director develops policies regarding the investigation of customers, extension of credit lines, and collections. Consults with current and future clients regarding their level of credit. Additionally, Credit and Collections Director oversees the negotiation and course of action taken for overdue accounts. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Credit and Collections Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. This position is responsible for the management of the Collections group and to preserve TruWest Credit Union’s assets in a cost-effective manner. This position is also responsible for fostering an empowered work environment that allows staff to provide spontaneous service excellence to members, employees and business associates demonstrating the values shown on TruWest’s Vision, Mission and Values card. Follow credit union policies for compliance with all laws and regulations, specifically, but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, Security Policies and Confidentiality Policies.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelors degree; a combination of education and exceptionally strong experience may be substituted. 5 years prior collection/supervisory experience in Asset Recovery or Agency/Attorney environment.
Experience: Ability to function effectively in a highly stressful atmosphere. Must have excellent verbal and written communications and negotiations skills. Must have ability to analyze basic financial statements, possess advanced knowledge of local, state and federal regulations for consumer lending, collections/recovery industry, including Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), Bankruptcy and probate rules /regulations, seizure and litigation. Strong knowledge of computer software applications including Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Highly motivated, well organized and detail oriented.
Knowledge and Skills: Additionally, individual must have demonstrated management skills in the area of staff development and motivation, business development, product development and management and supervising large work groups. Requires intermediate knowledge of computer software applications including: spreadsheet, word processing and presentation applications. Requires strong working knowledge of Federal and State Regulations and lending/mortgage related products. This position may involve minimal business travel.
