Each of the more than 500 staff who work in the Office of the Attorney General are dedicated to serving all Delawareans with integrity and passion. Deputy Attorneys General, with critical support from criminal special investigators, victim service specialists, paraprofessionals, and administrative staff, prosecute criminal cases, enforce consumer laws, provide counsel to state agencies, ensure the public's access to open government, protect the abused, and much more.

    Summary Statement

    There is an immediate need for a Senior Forensic Special Investigator in the Criminal Division, Delaware Child Predator Task Force.� The Task Force offices are located in Dover, Delaware. This is a unique investigator position whose duties include, but are not limited to, the forensic examination of digital media, computer hard drives, removable digital media and cellular telephones in cases involving the sexual exploitation of children. This Senior Forensic Special Investigator will be responsible for preparing detailed forensic reports based on findings and will testify at trials regarding the findings.

    Preferred Qualification

    International Association of Computer Investigative Specialists (IACIS) Forensic Computer Examiner Certification. Spoken and written fluency in Spanish. Please note: A preference is something the agency is requesting the applicant have knowledge or experience in but will not eliminate the applicant from the qualification process.

    Essential Functions

    This Senior Forensic Special Investigator will conduct suspect interviews, witness interviews, assisting Deputy Attorneys General in the presentation of cases dedicated entirely to the Child Predator Task Force (Internet Crimes Against Children) with expertise in computer forensic analysis. This Senior Forensic Special Investigator will assist in the investigation of complaints and referrals from citizens, the National Center for Missing and Exploited children, federal agencies, other Internet Crimes Against Children taskforces, and state and local law enforcement agencies where evidence, suspects, witnesses, or victims reside anywhere in Delaware. Will support investigations at each level, to include, but not limited to, knock-and-talk events, CyberTip Development, surveillance, background analysis and development, search warrant executions, arrests, and court appearances. Will be instrumental in equipping and maintaining a forensic workstation/lab. Will utilize specialized tools and procedures to collect, preserve, and examine computer related evidence in accordance with established, validated forensic principles (i.e., prepare duplicated images; recovered/deleted and or/corrupted files; attempt to reveal and recover files which are password protected and/or encrypted; recover hidden data, etc.). Will work with nationally coordinated online child sexual exploitation investigations. Will be part of a larger case load of the Delaware Child Predator Task Force and investigate more targets with forensic detectives at various agencies. This is a unique ability and service in a highly specialized criminal arena. Will maintain professional certification in numerous areas, including CJIS, DELJIS, NCIC, Firearms and other areas of expertise, as necessary. Will travel statewide when necessary.

    Job Requirements

    1.\tSubstantial experience as a Law Enforcement Officer. 2.\tAbility to work independently or in a team to investigate complex and difficult cases. 3.\tAbility to prepare comprehensive investigative reports for review by a Deputy Attorney�� � � � � General for civil and criminal complaints. 4.\tAbility to qualify and carry a weapon. 5.\tStrong written and verbal commw1ication skills. 6.\tCurrent Council on Police Training (COPT) Certificate or recent COPT certification. 7.\tFamiliarity with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), DELJIS, NCIC, and LEISS. 8.\tPossession of a valid driver's license. 9.\tWillingness to travel and attend various training opportunities as needed. �
