The Veterinary Medical Center is a privately owned 18,500 sq foot facility located in Lakewood Ranch, Florida. We have two openings for Critical Care Veterinary Technicians. A VTS in Emergency & Critical Care is helpful, but not required. Experience working with a Criticalist for 1 year or extensive veterinary technician experience plus a CVT or LVT is required. Must be able to proficiently place IV catheters, know most veterinary drugs and their purposes, be able to calculate drug doses and CRI's, be extremely detail oriented, have experience placing NG tubes and central lines, be able to monitor critical patients, have experience running codes/CPR, and more. In addition, excellent customer service and interpersonal skills are essential to what we do. Full time or part time is available. The full-timeposition is typically 3 days per week, 12 hours each shift. No overnights are required, but occasional rotating weekend shifts are needed.
About Us: Our hospital contains both a General Practice as well as an Emergency & Critical Care department. Our GP works out of a 6500 sq foot space, and our Emergency and Critical Care department will work out of a new 12,000 sq foot space estimated to be completed in March 2024. Our hospital was designed to be open and spacious. Our Emergency & Critical Care department will have 13 exam rooms, a welcoming reception area, two surgery suites, an on-site animal blood bank (run by our Crit Care team), a dedicated ultrasound room, conference rooms, a separate cat ward, a dedicated ICU, separation isolation facilities, and more. We have brand new equipment including full anesthesia monitors (HR, RR, CO2, O2, temp. etc), doppler and oscillometric BP, three ICU oxygen units, heska fluid pumps, digital radiology with telemedicine, cardiopet, ultrasound machines, IDEXX in house blood machines (cbc, chem, u/a, pt/ptt, iSTAT, lactate, and more), a new cardiostart defibrillator, companion animal laser machine, endoscopy, Vet Stem, high flow oxygen, NOVA, mechanical ventilation, hyperbaric, CT, and more! We are actively recruiting specialists with a goal to have a complete specialty team in the very near future.
