CONTRACT: 220 Days Salary and Administrative Benefit Package commensurate with experience.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Hold a valid state of Indiana administrative/specialist license appropriate for position.

Successful teaching and administrative experience.

Effective organizational planning and project management skills.

Knowledge of effective practices of curriculum and program development.

Knowledge of research related to successfully teaching students of all ability levels, instructional strategies, and understanding when it is appropriate to utilize each.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.
GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Director of Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment will:
-
be responsible for providing leadership in the ongoing development of the corporation’s curriculum and instruction development, implementation, assessment and improvement;
-
work closely with the Superintendent, administrators and teachers to reach performance targets, carry out Board directives and provide professional development, training and support;
-
foster cooperation and collaboration between buildings and central office administration to ensure consistent application of the K-12 curriculum plan;
-
directly oversee the development of policies and procedures pertaining to the K-12 instructional program, and;
-
be responsible for ensuring that instruction is aligned with curriculum goals, both at the local and state level as well as oversee and facilitate all required state testing done by the school corporation.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Promotes the corporation’s mission, philosophy and vision.

Maintains open and effective communications with the Superintendent, building administrators, teaching staff and Board.

Recommends to the Superintendent the corporation’s K-12 courses of study, scope and sequence framework, curriculum mapping, and state standards and guidelines.

Participates as an active member of the administrative team, upholds board policies and follows administrative guidelines and procedures.

Coordinates and evaluates the curriculum and instructional programs and makes appropriate recommendations.

Coordinates efforts of the professional staff in data analysis and program development.

Reviews individual school improvement plans as related to curriculum, instruction and data analysis.

Works with administrators and teachers implementing effective instructional strategies and interventions that increase student achievement through data analysis, consultation, collaboration and coaching.

Supports teachers and administrators through professional development opportunities by facilitating corporation professional development programs.

Exhibits a deep understanding of current educational research and disseminates this to teachers, administrators, parents and community members through a variety of formats.

Oversees program evaluation in all areas of instruction, including High Ability, At-Risk, Response to Intervention, Title I, and Special Needs.

Complete grant applications and final reports for the Title I, II, III and high ability grants.

Leads and coordinates student identification process for high ability programs at all levels, as well as maintaining academic information on students involved in the program.

Knowledgeable in remedial instruction and effective practices as it relates to Title I, Title II, and Title III.

Coordinates enrichment and intervention program development and opportunities for students.

Oversees data collection, analysis and reporting to drive the decision-making process.

Keeps current in trends and developments in the various curricular areas.

Facilitates and oversees the textbook adoption process.

Coordinates and monitors the standardized testing program for evaluation of student progress and curricular effectiveness.

Coordinates placement assessments.
-
Testing Coordinator for the Corporation for required state testing.
-
Facilitates district-wide student testing programs, analyzes test results and provides recommendations to the Superintendent and Board.

Assists and supports building administrators in their efforts to improve curriculum and instruction.

Collaborates with the Director of Technology to advance the use of technology to support teaching and learning.

Responsible for collection of data and submission of state reports related to curriculum and instruction.

Utilizes appropriate community resources to further curricular aims and objectives.

Facilitates the coordination of summer school and remediation programs, including assistance with teacher/instructional assistants’ hiring process.

Performs other such duties related to curriculum, instruction data analysis, and assessment that may be assigned by the Superintendent.
