Curriculum Manager manages the design and development of training programs, curriculum, methods, and materials for various audiences, including employees, managers, customers, or other learners. Oversees skill assessments and collects input to identify training or development needs, goals, gaps, and requirements. Being a Curriculum Manager consults with subject matter experts to define learning objectives and to design appropriate course content and training curriculum. Develops curricula supporting defined competency models or skill frameworks. Additionally, Curriculum Manager provides outlines, syllabus, lecture notes, and materials for in-person or online courses and self-study programs. Participates in the selection of software or collaboration tools used for training. Establishes metrics used to evaluate training effectiveness and analyzes outcomes to determine ROI and recommend changes to programs. May select and manage vendors that provide training materials or conduct training. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Curriculum Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Curriculum Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     Position: Director of Curriculum and Instruction

    Reports to: Superintendent

    Position Overview:

    The Director of Curriculum and Instruction formulates and implements a vision of effective instruction for the Coquille School District aimed at developing and sustaining the highest possible level of progressive educational programs and services. As a key member of the district leadership team, the Director collaborates with the Director of Special Programs, and other district administrators and Directors in providing strategic direction and implementing systemic improvement in curriculum, instruction, assessment, and other school improvement initiatives, as well as the professional development of staff. The Director of Curriculum and Instruction focuses on closing the achievement and opportunity gaps for traditionally underserved students, ensuring equity services and cultivating diversity in the district.

     

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Master’s Degree

    Hold or be eligible to hold an Oregon Administrative License

    3 years teaching experience—multiple grade levels preferred

    Background in Curriculum design, implementation, and training

    Background in Instructional coaching and teacher mentoring

    Current ODL

     

    Essential Functions:

    1. Personally mentors new teachers and facilitates their professional development.
    2. Promotes the systemic implementation of progressive educational practices, such as proficiency-based teaching and learning, social-emotional learning, and quality instruction that ensures equity for all learners.
    3. Communicates with principals and teachers to design and/or facilitate professional development for district staff.
    4. Mentors using on-site visits and multi-point data as the basis for decisions aimed at raising the skill set of new staff.
    5. Works in tandem with the principals to ensure the K-12 articulation of curriculum, academic and social/emotional/behavioral expectations, and to drive district wide instructional improvements in a coherent manner that supports Board and district goals.
    6. Works with building to create building level professional development for certified and classified staff.
    7. Prepares Federal Program plans: Title I, Title II, Title IV, and Title X
    8. Grant writing: Student Investment Account (SIA Grant), High School Success (HSS Grant), ESSR III Grant
    9. TECH Team Leader
    10. TAG Coordinator
    11. District Test Coordinator – SBAC annual training for administrators and staff
    12. Homeless liaison for the District
    13. Provides data analysis as required 
    14. Supervision of personnel as directed by the Superintendent.
    15. Participates in their own professional development, conferences, and workshops as directed by the Superintendent.
    16. Other duties as assigned by Superintendent. 

     

    Skills and Abilities:

    1. Ability to plan, organize, and direct a comprehensive education program aimed at preparing every student for success.
    2. Ability to lead improvement efforts toward identified instructional targets by motivating and mentoring new teachers and facilitating systemic change strategies, with an emphasis on progressive educational practices.
    3. Commitment to equity in educational opportunities for students. Find/lead professional development opportunities for staff, especially with regard to members of traditionally underserved and underrepresented groups.
    4. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with parents/guardians, the community, institutions of higher education, business leaders, and administrative staff.
    5. Strong knowledge of best practices in curriculum and instruction, program evaluation, leadership development, school improvement, budget management, and data analysis.
    6.  Demonstrated knowledge of state/federal regulations and accreditation requirements governing public education programs.

     

    Physical Requirements:

    4. Stoop/Squat/Bend 1-2 Hours
    5. Lift/Carry 1-2 Hours      Up to a weight of     50 lbs
