Curriculum Manager manages the design and development of training programs, curriculum, methods, and materials for various audiences, including employees, managers, customers, or other learners. Oversees skill assessments and collects input to identify training or development needs, goals, gaps, and requirements. Being a Curriculum Manager consults with subject matter experts to define learning objectives and to design appropriate course content and training curriculum. Develops curricula supporting defined competency models or skill frameworks. Additionally, Curriculum Manager provides outlines, syllabus, lecture notes, and materials for in-person or online courses and self-study programs. Participates in the selection of software or collaboration tools used for training. Establishes metrics used to evaluate training effectiveness and analyzes outcomes to determine ROI and recommend changes to programs. May select and manage vendors that provide training materials or conduct training. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Curriculum Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Curriculum Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.   • SUMMARY 

    The Associate Manager, Curriculum is responsible for leading the instructional content development and curriculum quality functions, while providing curriculum writing and editing expertise. This role develops and maintains training materials for both instructor-led training and self-study courseware outlines, including course design documents, content outlines, assessment questions, scenarios, and case studies. This role partners with internal and external subject matter experts who will provide input for content and field examples for the development of curriculum products. The Associate Manger, Curriculum is responsible for drafting, editing, revising, and reviewing all training materials, including those written by Curriculum Quality Specialists.

     

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

     

    • Develop and oversee key instructional content initiatives from planning to launch ensuring delivery of high-quality products within the agreed timeline and achieving performance objectives.   
    • Lead a diverse team of curriculum quality specialists and coach them to meet goals and achieve success; nurture team member growth and professional development.
    • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to develop, implement, and maintain leading edge curriculum products to meet or exceed goals. 
    • Draft course descriptions with learning objectives. 
    • Develop and revise structurally sound facilitator guides with hands on activities and other elements of participant engagement. 
    • Write knowledge check questions, final assessments, and certificate exams for courses to ensure comprehension of material consistent with learning objectives. 
    • Collaborate with internal and external subject matter experts to establish objectives, course structure, and develop content, scenarios, and case studies. 
    • Drive continuous improvement in response to feedback through program evaluations and discussions with facilitators, producers, and participants.
    • Ensure that all content items adhere to appropriate IIA item-writing guidelines and glossaries for both content and format consistency, including ensuring the global applicability of concepts and terms. 
    • Communicate with delivery team for accurate delivery of curriculum materials.  
    • Provide timely and relevant communications and status updates and metrics to all stakeholders, including development and maintenance of dashboards. 
    • Maintain compliance with NASBA standards for all content.
    • Develop and maintain all team level Standard Operating Procedure (SOPs), Style Guides (SGs) and Forms. 
    • Apply recognized project management principles and make decisions with little or no supervision in order to simultaneously and efficiently manage multiple project plans and timelines, and ensure tasks and projects are successfully completed within scope, and on time.
    • Stay up to date on information and trends related to the internal auditing profession to ensure that curriculum content is supporting the profession today while addressing future needs and direction for the profession.
    • Other duties as assigned.

     

     

    Supervisory Responsibilities

    This position has direct management responsibilities for Curriculum Quality Specialists.

     

    Qualifications  

    To perform this job successfully, an individual must have:

     

    • Exceptional verbal and written communications skills.
    • Curriculum content and exam item writing experience, including courseware design, editing, and proofreading.
    • Familiarity with writing and editing learning objectives, content, activities, and assessments utilizing Bloom’s Taxonomy. 
    • Experience prioritizing and balancing multiple, ongoing projects with ability to meet critical deadlines.
    • Strong proofreading, editing, and style guide conformance skills.
    • High attention to detail and consistency of style across multiple products and formats.
    • Strong collaboration skills.
    • Self-motivation and ability to work independently.
    • Ability to consider the global perspective and applicability of projects and content.
    • Mastery of MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
    • SmartSheet experience preferred.

    Education and/or Experience                                             

    Bachelor’s degree, preferably in curriculum development, education, internal audit, or other related field and 3-5 years of experience in curriculum development, project management and previous people management experience

    • Ability to work with data, evaluation metrics and details.

     

    Language Skills                                            

    Effective written, verbal, presentation development, and interpersonal communications skills as well as strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret facilitator feedback that will be transformed into meaningful presentations. Ability to write business correspondence and work with IT and other staff professionals is required.  A complete command of the English language, including grammar skills.

                                        

    Mathematical Skills                                                  

    Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

     

    Reasoning Ability                                                     

    Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and effectively propose and execute solutions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in written, mathematical, or diagram form, and create tangible representations of several abstract and concrete variables.

     

    Computer Skills                                            

    Expert ability to work in a computerized environment with a strong knowledge of most Microsoft Office products and Smart Sheets. Must have an aptitude to learn new software tools relating to project and content management.

     

    Other Skills and Abilities                                                     

    Must have excellent writing, communication, and organizational skills, team orientation, and strong interpersonal skills.  Able to handle multiple priorities and deadlines.
