Curriculum Specialist jobs in Longview, TX

Curriculum Specialist designs and develops training programs, curriculum, methods, and materials for various audiences, including employees, managers, customers, or other learners. Conducts skill assessments and collects input to identify training or development needs, goals, gaps, and requirements. Being a Curriculum Specialist consults with subject matter experts to define learning objectives and to design appropriate course content and training curriculum. Develops curricula supporting defined competency models or skill frameworks. Additionally, Curriculum Specialist writes and edits outlines, syllabus, lecture notes, and materials for in-person or online courses and self-study programs. Evaluates the software or collaboration tools to be selected for training. Establishes metrics to use to evaluate training effectiveness. May collaborate with vendors that provide training materials or conduct training. May coach trainers. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Curriculum Specialist occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Gaining exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function.   • Job Summary: Assist districts in increasing student achievement through the provision of professional development and technical assistance in the areas of curriculum, instruction, and assessment. Will support various TEA Initiatives such as, but not limited to, Research-Based Instructional Strategies, Learning Acceleration Support Opportunities, and Texas Lesson Study, etc.


    Qualifications:

     

    Education/Training:

    • Bachelor Degree or required license Prefer Master Degree in related field
    • Prefer applicant to have training in instructional coaching Require experience in Professional
    • Learning Communities

    Experience:

    • At least 10 years of related experience.
    • Must be well versed in PLCs and instructional coaching Prefer experience with Carnegie Texas Math
    • Solutions

    Knowledge / Skills:

    • Ability to build, develop and inspire teams Task execution (result oriented)
    • Build and cultivate relationships Excellent communication Financial knowledge
    • Adaptability by being flexible, attentive to change and ready to move quickly and
    • decisively in response to the needs of customers

     

    Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

    • Must be able to maintain emotional control under stress
    • Work with frequent interruptions; irregular hours
    • Frequent regional travel; occasional statewide travel

    Major Responsibilities and Duties:

    1. Support the implementation of ESC projects and TEA initiatives such as the implementation of high-quality instructional materials.
    2. Attend and successfully complete TEA Product Academies and RBIS certification.

    3. Facilitate Professional Learning Communities on various campuses.
    4. Plan, develop, and present research-based data-driven professional development for Region 7 customers based on needs assessment data.
    5. Provide technical assistance to Region 7 customers for purposes of improving student performance.
    6. Participate with other ESCs and TEA in activities designed to promote improved student performance.
    7. Work collaboratively with all ESC staff in serving the customers of Region 7 ESC.
    8. Demonstrate professional behavior in all interactions with ESC staff, the TEA, and customers.
    9. Attend and actively participate in ESC-required meetings.
    10. Adhere to ESC policies and procedures in the Region 7 ESC quality management system.
    11. Regular and reliable attendance.
    12. Other duties as assigned.
