Curriculum Specialist designs and develops training programs, curriculum, methods, and materials for various audiences, including employees, managers, customers, or other learners. Conducts skill assessments and collects input to identify training or development needs, goals, gaps, and requirements. Being a Curriculum Specialist consults with subject matter experts to define learning objectives and to design appropriate course content and training curriculum. Develops curricula supporting defined competency models or skill frameworks. Additionally, Curriculum Specialist writes and edits outlines, syllabus, lecture notes, and materials for in-person or online courses and self-study programs. Evaluates the software or collaboration tools to be selected for training. Establishes metrics to use to evaluate training effectiveness. May collaborate with vendors that provide training materials or conduct training. May coach trainers. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Curriculum Specialist occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Gaining exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. Responsibilities:
Assist director and classroom teachers to plan, prepare and implement quality rated lesson plan/lesson plan boxes and activities; assist classroom teachers to assess each child on a semi-annual basis based on Georgia Early Learning and Development Standards (GELDS); guide classroom teachers to maintain Quality Rated (QR) classroom environment including toys, equipment, decorations, enhancements, etc.; keep up-to-date on new GELDS, Quality Rated, Department of Early Care and Learning (DECAL) guidelines and regulations; maintain/order needed classroom supplies; review weekly lessons plans and make needed corrections to maintain QR standards; be available to assist in classroom if teacher is absent; maintain working relationship with QR technical assistant coordinator to ensure compliance; work with cook to provide age appropriate cooking activities; assist summer school age teacher with planning and implementing summer camp-activities, field trips, etc.; instruct classroom teachers on how to prepare QR lesson plans to meet guidelines; and other duties as assigned
Requirements:
Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age; Have either a high school diploma or a general education diploma (GED). Three months of qualifying child care experience. CPR/First Aid/AED certified.
