Curriculum Specialist designs and develops training programs, curriculum, methods, and materials for various audiences, including employees, managers, customers, or other learners. Conducts skill assessments and collects input to identify training or development needs, goals, gaps, and requirements. Being a Curriculum Specialist consults with subject matter experts to define learning objectives and to design appropriate course content and training curriculum. Develops curricula supporting defined competency models or skill frameworks. Additionally, Curriculum Specialist writes and edits outlines, syllabus, lecture notes, and materials for in-person or online courses and self-study programs. Evaluates the software or collaboration tools to be selected for training. Establishes metrics to use to evaluate training effectiveness. May collaborate with vendors that provide training materials or conduct training. May coach trainers. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. Academic Enrichment Curriculum Coordinator
Regular, Full-time, Administration, 12-month (part-time during the summer) reporting to the Head of School
Primary responsibility
● Coordinates the design, articulation, and development of the school’s academic program and curricular vision and is responsible for the operational mechanics of the academic program and calendar.
Specific areas of responsibility include: partnership with the Secretary, Interventionist and teachers to support innovative pedagogy and curriculum; coordination of annual
course offerings; preparation of the comprehensive class schedule; and oversight of student
assessment. This position reports to the Head of School, is a member of the administrative
team, and works closely with the Head of School and other administrators in the overall
leadership and management of the school.
Curriculum
● Coordinates curriculum design, review, evaluation, and development;
● Implements strategic changes and advancements to the academic program, in alignment
with the school’s strategic plan;
● Works with administration and faculty to support curricular innovation and
initiatives;
● Chairs the Curriculum Committee;
● Teaches 2 year long upper school classes.
Scheduling
● Builds the comprehensive course schedule, and works with the Admissions Director to create draft schedules for all students;
● With the Head of School and Admissions Director, determines annual course offerings,
staffing needs, and number of sections where applicable;
● Oversees student class enrollments;
● Creates the weekly schedule;
● Oversees new student class selection and placement.
Learning Services
● With other administrators, represents the academic program at admissions events;
● Supervises the grading and reporting system (Interim Reports, Course
Reports);
● With Admissions Director and Bookkeeper, oversees maintenance of accurate student records including transcripts;
General
● Help develop and maintain school calendars.
● Serve as a secondary office support when office support staff are absent or occupied.
● Assist with other responsibilities as assigned and time permits.
Qualifications
● Bachelor’s Degree or higher;
● Experience teaching in a secondary school setting, other leadership experience preferred;
● Be a strong spiritual leader with a positive witness for Jesus Christ, evidenced through a genuine relationship with Christ
● Articulate a Christian and educational vision, and strive to bring together the school’s mission, services, and constituencies.
● Commit personally to the “Matthew 18 Principle” in the day to day dealings of the school and practice confidentiality in all matters.
● Assure the school maintains the highest possible standards;
● Proven record as an exceptional classroom teacher and model of professional responsibility;
● Proven organizational and administrative skills.
