Curriculum Specialist, Sr. designs and develops training programs, curriculum, methods, and materials for various audiences, including employees, managers, customers, or other learners. Conducts skill assessments and collects input to identify training or development needs, goals, gaps, and requirements. Being a Curriculum Specialist, Sr. consults with subject matter experts to define learning objectives and to design appropriate course content and training curriculum. Develops curricula supporting defined competency models or skill frameworks. Additionally, Curriculum Specialist, Sr. writes and edits outlines, syllabus, lecture notes, and materials for in-person or online courses and self-study programs. Evaluates the software or collaboration tools to be selected for training. Establishes metrics to use to evaluate training effectiveness. May collaborate with vendors that provide training materials or conduct training. May coach trainers. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Curriculum Specialist, Sr. work is highly independent. May assume a team lead role for the work group. A specialist on complex technical and business matters. Primary responsibilities include maintaining and developing the Core Virtues program as well as managing the production of grammar school curriculum resources for the Hillsdale K-12 Education Office.
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each primary responsibility mentioned in a best-of-class manner, with preference given to candidates who can also assist in one or more areas of secondary responsibility.
Education and Experience
An undergraduate degree in the humanities, sciences, or a related field and at least 3 years of teaching experience in a K-6 classroom are required. Preference will be given to candidates who possess principled knowledge of an integrated, classical K-12 curriculum and who demonstrate mastery of classical pedagogical practices.

Additionally, all K-12 Education personnel must have good communication skills in order to effectively discuss Hillsdale College and the K-12 Education Office with individuals across the country. Candidates must understand Hillsdale College's mission, philosophy, and educational practices and philosophies.
