BASIC FUNCTION: The Customer Service Supervisor oversees specific finance operations as assigned by the Finance Director, including the performance of full range of supervision for designated areas of responsibility.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Serve as first line supervisor and manager of specific Finance operations, including but not limited to Cashiering and Utility Billing, and Meter Reading.
2. Develop policy and procedure recommendations for cash collection, utility billing operations and telephone/visitor assistance and referral, collections and write-offs.
3. Resolve concerns and problems from employees, other departments, vendors or public pertaining to accounts, bills or payments.
4. Answer more complicated or serious inquiries in person or by telephone regarding customer matters, oftentimes in hostile or adverse situations.
5. Analyze and maintain integrity of respective computer software applications and make recommendations for improvement.
6. Review and approve activity reports and other records prepared by subordinates.
7. Maintain records, files and other information related to cashiering and utility billing operations in accordance with records retention schedules.
8. Perform other appropriate duties as assigned.
TYPICAL DECISIONS: The incumbent must organize and plan work for designated areas of responsibility and possess well-rounded communication skills. Develop performance measures and goals for subordinates and departmental functions.
Education: Two years of college.
Experience: Five years of related experience in a municipality, public accounting firm, or business. Two years of experience as a supervisor in a related field or operation.
NOTE: Any work related experience resulting in acceptable proficiency levels in the above Minimum Qualifications is an acceptable substitute for the above specified education and experience requirements.
