    SEASONAL POSITIONS FROM MID-MARCH TO MID-NOVEMBER

    MSW’s through outreach services will locate and contact MSFWs who are not being reached by the normal intake activities conducted by the employment service offices. MSW’s will explain to MSFWs at their working, living or gathering areas by means of written and oral presentations either spontaneous or recorded, in a language readily understood by them, the services available at the local one-stop center (which includes the availability of referrals to training, supportive services, and career services, as well as specific employment opportunities), and other related services. They will distribute information on the employment service complaint system, on the other organizations serving MSFWs in the area, and a basic summary of farmworker rights, including their rights with respect to the terms and conditions of employment. This position requires considerable travel and the ability to work flexible hours when the majority of MSFWs are in the MSW’s assign geographical area. To meet position duties, MSW’s must have MSFW background, speak, read and write language common among MSFWs in the state, Spanish. Assist agricultural employers meet labor needs. MSW’s will spend much of their time in the field. Will review criteria ETA 790 to ensure compliance for Interstate recruitment clearance, post job orders cleared into PMTC. Position purpose is to comply with 20 CFR 653.107.

    Considerable travel by personal automobile and the ability to work flexible hours is required.

    Position Description

    The selected candidate will be covering several counties within Prosperity Regions 4 & assist in other regions as need be based on operational needs. The primary office location will be in Newaygo.

    Required Education and Experience

    Education
    Completion of two years of college (60 semester or 90 term credits).

    Experience

    Migrant Services Worker 8
    No specific type or amount is required.

    Migrant Services Worker 9
    One year of experience equivalent to a Migrant Services Worker 8.

    Migrant Services Worker E10
    Two years of experience equivalent to a Migrant Services Worker, including one year equivalent to a Migrant Services Worker 9.

    Alternate Education and Experience

    Completion of one year of college (30 semester or 45 term credits) and two years of administrative support experience performing such duties as interviewing the public, obtaining required information, and making decisions necessary to render services to a client, including one year equivalent to the experienced (E7) level, may be substituted for the education requirement.

    Four years of administrative support experience performing such duties as interviewing the public, obtaining required information, and making decisions necessary to render services to a client, including two years equivalent to the experienced (E7) level, may be substituted for the education requirement.

    Additional Requirements and Information

    Competency in reading, writing and communicating effectively in Spanish and English.
    Possession of a valid Michigan driver's license.
    Daily access to a motor vehicle.

    Salary for this position is entirely federally funded. Under federal law an employee whose salary is entirely federally funded may not be a candidate for public office in a partisan election.

    Vacation and Sick Leave: Eligible full-time employees receive between 15 and 35 personal days and 13 sick days per year that may be rolled over to the following year if not used. Eligible employees also receive an additional day each year for community service or school functions.

    Paid Parental Leave: Eligible employees can take 12 weeks of paid leave immediately after a birth or adoption to allow needed time together at home with a new child.

    Paid Holidays: Eligible employees receive 13 or 14 paid holidays each year including New Year’s Eve and Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents’ Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, the Fourth of July, Labor Day, Election Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, Thanksgiving Friday, Christmas Eve and Day.

    Bonus Programs: Eligible employees with five years of service also receive annual longevity bonuses that grow as seniority increases. Some positions also may qualify for recruitment, retention, and performance bonuses or other special pay premiums.

    Military Pay Differential: Employees in the guard or reserves may also qualify for supplemental pay benefits if miliary pay during qualifying duty is less than normal state pay. Prior military service may also allow seniority credits to accelerate eligibility for longevity bonuses and additional personal leave accrual.
