Customer Service Supervisor supervises a staff of customer service representatives that respond to requests from customers by phone, e-mail, or chat. Manages the daily workload to ensure required service volume and quality levels are attained. Being a Customer Service Supervisor trains and coaches staff in standard policies, procedures, and best practices. Identifies opportunities for operational improvements and implements solutions. Additionally, Customer Service Supervisor monitors and evaluate staff performance. Responds to escalated issues to facilitate solutions. May provide direct customer support for complicated or critical issues. Typically requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Customer Service Supervisor supervises a small group of para-professional staff in an organization characterized by highly transactional or repetitive processes. Contributes to the development of processes and procedures. To be a Customer Service Supervisor typically requires 3 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. This position performs supervisory work in managing food service activities and maintaining sanitation standards as defined by the NC Food Code in a moderate scale food service operation. Job responsibilities include the following:- Responsible for supervising food preparation, food/supplies procurement and storage, in-servicing employees, and record keeping.
- Responsible for the management of employees to include hiring, performance planning and evaluation, training, discipline, and scheduling.

- Considerable knowledge of the dietary requirements for a variety of therapeutic diets and diet textures.
- Ability to develop and use standardized recipes.
- Ability to estimate food quantities to supply the number of persons to be served.
- Considerable knowledge of procurement and inventory of food and supplies.
- Ability to evaluate and correct sanitation and food safety practices as set for in the NC Food Code.
- Considerable knowledge of management principles related to supervision of employees.
- Ability to plan, organize, and direct the work of employees.
- Knowledgeable in food service software.
- Bachelor’s degree in dietetics, food management, or hospitality management from an appropriately accredited institution.
- Two years of food service supervision experience.
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 20 lbs
Bachelor's degree dietetics, food management, culinary arts, hospitality management from an appropriately accredited institution; or High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and four years of supervisory experience in the preparation and serving of food in quantity lots; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Degrees must be from appropriately accredited colleges or universities. The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
