Cytotechnologist examines cells of the cytoplasm and nucleus to determine pathological conditions. Separates sediment and cells from blood serum and categorizes slides and records classification. Being a Cytotechnologist receives and prepares specimens for analysis. Detects abnormalities and communicates to pathologist to arrive at a final diagnosis and report. Additionally, Cytotechnologist requires a bachelor's degree. Requires graduation from an approved school of cytotechnology and American Society of Clinical Pathologist (ASCP) or I.C.A. registration. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. Cytotechnologist's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. Responsibilities
Position Summary:
Cytotechnologists prepare cellular specimens, examine them using light microscopy and report any abnormalities discovered. Responsibilities include microscopic review of Gynecologic and non-gynecologic specimens for pre-malignant and malignant disease and infections. Experience with automated screening modalities for GYN cytology is required. Cytotechnologists assist Pathologists' during on site fine needle aspiration procedure and are able to perform immediate assessments alone when required. Cytotechnologists perform Quality Control functions as required by law. Cytotechnologists will be required to perform basic cyto-preparatory, have through knowledge of laboratory information system and perform all ancillary responsibilities to fulfill their job duties.

Pay Range
Pay Range: $38.00 - $49.40 Hourly
