Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Equipment Operator to join our team. As an Equipment Operator, you will be responsible for operating heavy equipment such as excavators, skid steers, motor graders, dump trucks, and tractor mowers to accomplish tasks and projects for the department. This is a full-time position with competitive pay and benefits.
Duties:
Operates trucks and other heavy equipment to complete highway maintenance work. Operates post drivers for the installation of signs, fences and guardrails and other hand held power or manual tools. Performs tree trimming and brush cutting. Performs manual labor for concrete and bituminous patching and sealing of cracks in highways and structures. Manually provides highway traffic control for construction and maintenance projects according to safety procedures. Physically moves, loads and unloads highway materials and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds. Completes routine and general maintenance and mechanical repair of equipment. Performs snow removal, maintains yards and performs building maintenance and clearing. May apply chemicals of selective and non-selective herbicide spray to highway right-of-way.
Experience:
- 18 years of age
- Wust be able to lift up to 50 pounds, climb, bend, and stoop
- Strong understanding of safety procedures and protocols in a construction and heavy equipment operating
- Work in outdoor temperature extremes and work around high speed traffic
- Must be able to report to work outside scheduled work hours for snow and other highway emergencies within 30 minutes under normal driving conditions
Skills:
- Class A Commercial Driver License, must be able to obtain within 60 days of employment
