    Essential functions of the position:
    Maintain laundry/linens in a clean, sanitary, safe, orderly, and attractive manner.
    Job-related physical requirements:
    • This is a physical position requiring the ability to stand; walk; freedom of body movement including bending, crouching, turning, and reaching; ability to push and pull equipment. These abilities will be repeated constantly throughout shift.
    • Able to lift and carry up to 30 pounds without difficulty.
    • Ability to function in extremes in temperature.

    Additional skills/knowledge:
    • General knowledge of laundry systems including equipment operation, chemical use and laundering techniques.
    • Must be able to follow oral and written instructions in the predominant language of the facility.
    • Must have knowledge of Residents' Rights and always respect these rights.
    • Must have appropriate knowledge of Policies and Procedures of the company (including Personnel Policies) and always follow these policies.
    • Must have knowledge of and practice appropriate safety and injury-prevention measures. Reports any incident/accident immediately, regardless of severity.
    • Must have knowledge of and practice applicable infection control techniques, especially as they relate to processing of laundry.
    • Must attend relevant in-service education programs and other informational meetings.
    Status/Schedule:
    Full time, part time, temporary
    Hourly
    Scheduled shifts between 5:00am and 12:00midnight, seven days a week. Other times as necessary.
    Usual Location:
    Primarily in the laundry and throughout the facility. Travels occasionally to other facilities of the company.
    Responsibilities and Duties:
    • Collects soiled laundry from nursing units.
    • Properly sorts laundry and linen for effective processing, including locating and handling properly those items that require special handling (soaking, discard, etc.).
    • Properly load laundry/linen into equipment, use appropriate size loads.
    • Fold, sort, and stack clean and dry linen on carts or in storage area in appropriate quantities and for ease of use.
    • Uses equipment properly, including chemical concentrations and monitoring cleaning needs (lint traps, etc.). Notifies supervisor of any equipment problems or questions.
    • Assists with linen inventories.
    • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
    • Cooperates well with other departments (nursing, dietary, etc.) when they make special requests of the laundry.
    • Completes required forms/paperwork accurately and on-time.
    • Reports to work on-time.
    • Can be relied upon to attend work as scheduled.
