Data Center Director directs and optimizes all operations of a data center facility to ensure data performance, availability, and security. Designs operating procedures and policies for installing, configuring, and maintaining servers, networks, and storage systems within a data center to maximize operational efficiency. Being a Data Center Director monitors environmental conditions to ensure optimal temperature, humidity, and power supply to prevent downtime and protect hardware from damage. Ensures timely, accurate, and consistent technical infrastructure service and presentation to internal and external clients. Additionally, Data Center Director coordinates with outside teams to identify and implement new systems to support existing and future business needs. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to senior management. The Data Center Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Data Center Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.     Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking Data Center Technicians to support our customers in multiple locations. This includes, but is not limited to: VA (Manassas, Herndon, Chantilly, Auburn), OR (Boardman, Umatilla, Hermiston), OH (Columbus), CA (Santa Clara), given availability. This position requires the successful candidate report to a site location.

    Amazon Web Services (AWS) is a fast paced technology company and a leader in the world of data centers. The position will help ensure overall availability and reliability to meet or exceed defined service levels of data center operations. This position involves hardware and network diagnostics followed by physical repair and may include participation in an on-call rotation. All candidates should be willing to work both independently and with a team. Work prioritization, organizational skills, effective communication, and the ability to react quickly are critical to being successful. In addition to hardware and network repair, candidates will install equipment, create documentation, innovate solutions, and fix problems within the Data Center Space. This team works in an environment that operates 24/7x365.

    • Ability to work in an environment that operates 24/7 with an ability to participate in on-call rotation and provide after-hours support as needed

    • Experience working in a colocation data center facility
    • Knowledge of IT system hardware and network concepts
    • Knowledge of server hardware and components
    • Knowledge of fiber optic and copper cabling standards, testing equipment and troubleshooting methodologies
    • An Associates degree or 2 years of professional or military experience in an IT related field
