Data Center Director directs and optimizes all operations of a data center facility to ensure data performance, availability, and security. Designs operating procedures and policies for installing, configuring, and maintaining servers, networks, and storage systems within a data center to maximize operational efficiency. Being a Data Center Director monitors environmental conditions to ensure optimal temperature, humidity, and power supply to prevent downtime and protect hardware from damage. Ensures timely, accurate, and consistent technical infrastructure service and presentation to internal and external clients. Additionally, Data Center Director coordinates with outside teams to identify and implement new systems to support existing and future business needs. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to senior management. The Data Center Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Data Center Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.     Position Summary: The Assistant Crisis Center Director (ACCD) is responsible for assisting the Crisis Center Program Director in monitoring and assessing all programs of the Crisis Center to include the 24 hour crisis line, after-hour mental health lines, information and referral, Community Services Council, training programs, and volunteer administration. This position will answer calls as an crisis worker but will have additional responsibilities which may include coordinating public relations activities, quality assurance, and human resource management in the Crisis Center. This is a full time hourly position expected to work 40 hours per week within a variable schedule that may include nights and weekends.

    Reporting and Supervision

    The Assistant Crisis Center Director is immediately responsible to the Crisis Center Director and is expected to exercise considerable initiative and independent judgment in the performance of his/her duties. The ACCD is not a direct supervisor of other crisis center staff but is expected to model the professional conduct, technical skill, and work ethic expected of all staff. The ACCD may also be called upon to assist with interview, evaluations, and other related personnel tasks.

    List of Job Duties

    Basic Crisis Line Duties

    • Provide crisis line phone coverage answering the phone, listening, and assisting callers.
    • Provide online emotional support threw chat and/or text.
    • Demonstrate the ability to respond appropriately to calls, provide information and make referrals, use empathy or direct approaches, transfer calls, log calls, and contact on-call or supervisor when necessary.
    • Follow protocols when intervening in a crisis and/or assuming an advocacy role for vulnerable persons such as those affected by dementia, mental illness, or Alzheimer’s, respond to emergencies such as physical, sexual, and financial abuse, health and medical emergencies, hospitalization issues, risk of self-harm or harm to others, and ‘Duty to Warn’ situations.
    • Assist in updating resources.
    • Ensure phone room is kept orderly, organized, and clean.
    • Control phone room access when on shift to ensure privacy and efficiency by:
    • Protecting consumer confidentiality by discussing all concerns and reactions only with designated Listening Ear employees, and within the physical confines of our offices.
    • Following guidelines as stated in the Program Statement
    • follow the Listening Ear Manual of Operations and protocols/procedures described during training in the discharge of these responsibilities
    • Complete all necessary dispositions and other required documentation and file in appropriate places.

    Assistant Crisis Center Director Specific Duties

    • Assist in staff meetings as directed and take meeting minutes.
    • Assist with developing and conducting new hire and on-going program trainings as needed. Effectively seeking to ensure that staff job related skills are developed with required competency levels and quality is adhered to.
    • Guide and counsel staff regarding management of crisis calls.
    • Provide or ensure emergency back-up support to all Crisis Center Programs.
    • Review call reports for accuracy.
    • Provide debrief on demand for staff and volunteers.
    • Participate in consumer care monitoring to review the quality of service and provide relevant feedback to staff.
    • Create and edit schedule based on emerging trends and call volume.
    • Maintain monthly, quarterly and yearly statistics of the Crisis Center. Share trends with Crisis Center Director, Management, and other appropriate stakeholders.

    Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    The Assistant Crisis Center Director is a key position within the Crisis Center team and expected to have skills in line with any crisis call center worker including (but not limited to) exceptional communication skills, proven respect for consumer confidentially, and attention to detail. The ACCD also must:

    • Have the ability to set limits, maintain the role of the position, and to intervene appropriately to meet the needs of the persons served.
    • Be capable of assisting the Crisis Center Director with program planning, development and implementation of services to consumers consistent with identified agency and community needs.
    • Have the ability to use the computer and become familiar with the Crisis Center computer database program to the extent that training can be provided to staff and volunteers.
    • Be proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel and Access. Must have good written, oral and communication skills and be able to complete required reports and follow written and oral instructions that are related to the position. The position requires attention to detail, thoroughness, and insight.

    Schedule, Travel Expectations, Working Conditions

    The ACCD is expected to work 40 hours per week in a variable schedule that may include both weekends and overnights. This position is not expected to incur any travel. This is an office position with much time spent listening and talking on the phone.

    Physical Requirements

    This is an office position with most of the work being done seated. There is no lifting beyond standard requirements of a general office position.
