    General Position Summary

    The Inventory Control Specialist is responsible for analyzing inventory transactions and assisting with reconciliation. Additional responsibility includes frequent reporting of inventory status, metrics and other information as requested.

     

    Essential Functions / Major Responsibilities

    • Analyze physical inventory, establish and maintain inventory discrepancy investigations, and generate appropriate reporting to maintain adequate inventory levels and appropriate control.
    • Ensures inventory is validated and reconciled to approved plan/schedule and processes.
    • Creates, administers, analyzes and reports on all cycle counts and physical inventories in accordance with established guidelines and provide regular reports on results.
    • Support warehousing operations by assisting with inventory planning, and  managing the information flow, accuracy and control of inventory across multiple sites and sub-inventories.
    • Ensures security and accountability of inventory through transaction documentation, process and procedure verification, and system review.
    • Perform thorough research and document inventory discrepancies using all available resources to identify root causes and supply workable solutions.
    • Responsible for practicing continuous improvement well beyond the initial data analytics and into investigation, root cause, and improvement phases to report on issue and resolution.
    • Responsible for assisting in process and system development projects to optimize reporting and streamline inventory practices and corresponding transactions.
    • Responsible for the creation of ad hoc analyses as required to evaluate specific issues/opportunities
    • Suggests and leads improvement opportunities to streamline inventory management, accounting and reporting.
    • Performs system transactions as required.

     

    Specific Job Requirements

    • Proficient in inventory processes and business systems impacting inventory.
    • Knowledge required to query, evaluate, and merge complex data sets from multiple systems into comprehensive reports that clearly identifies variances and trends.
    • Exceptional time management, ability to multi-task, and to adjust changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
    • Collaborate well with others and manage initiatives cross-functionally throughout a business.
    • Turn analysis and investigation conclusions into intuitive and succinct business presentations.  Present findings and projects to upper management.
    • Ability to travel up to 20% between corporate headquarters and satellite offices to work in-person with cross-functional teams.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

     

    Education and Experience Requirements

    • B.A. in a related business field strongly preferred.
    • Three to five years of experience in inventory management, business data analyst, corporate financial planning, or customer service analyst position.
    • Experience with accounting preferred.
    • Working knowledge of ERP systems required.  Oracle experience preferred.
    • Experience with BI reporting tools such as Crystal Reports or MS SQL preferred.
    • Experience in auditing and testing databases for systemic and manual errors.
    • Proficient in the Microsoft Office software set (MS Excel, MS Word, MS Access, MS PowerPoint), specifically advanced MS Excel skills required.
    • Business Systems Analyst background preferred.
