POSITION SUMMARY

Enter data from source documents into the computer. Examine the contents of delivery vehicles and compare them with records. Work in both an office and shop/ yard environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING: Because Eastern Shipbuilding is continually growing to meet the needs of our customers, the essential duties and responsibilities may be different than described.

· Regular attendance at work and the ability to work flexible hours, including overtime, weekends, and holidays.

· Organize and maintain file system and file correspondence/documents as required.

· Enter, update, and verify data from source documents into the computer using a keyboard or scanning device.

· Compile, sort and verify accuracy of data to be entered; compare data entered with source documents.

· Work outside the office environment as needed verifying and managing the delivery of material.

· Document shipment data, such as material received, damages, and discrepancies.

· Order materials needed for production such as consumables, paint, and equipment parts as needed.

· Create backup files for all data.

· Knowledge of mechanical terms.

· Perform additional duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

REQUIREMENTS

Education/ Experience: High school diploma or GED equivalent plus two years of data entry experience, and one or more years of shipping and receiving experience desired. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Knowledge of general office practices such as typing, filing, and bookkeeping desired.

Skills: Intermediate to advanced level Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook Express. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from supervisors, employees, and vendors. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, verbal, or diagram form. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure.
