As a Data Management Director in Metadata Management, you will embark on a rewarding and impactful career journey. This role offers you the opportunity to provide strategic direction for Data Governance, lead a team of Data Stewards, and make critical business decisions. You will be the guardian of specific data elements, understanding their metadata, usage, standards, and quality, thereby playing a pivotal role in our organization's data management strategy.

Job responsibilities

- Provide strategic direction for Data Governance and lead a team of Data Stewards.
- Oversee the collection, validation, and documentation of metadata for data elements related to key business operations, reporting, and analytics.
- Control key Data Risk areas such as Access, Privacy, and Data Use, acting as the decision maker for specific data elements.
- Shape the evolution of the Data Steward Role and broaden the scope of metadata across the data life cycle.
 

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

• Bachelor’s degree in a business, technology, or analytics discipline or related equivalent work experience. 
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in a major financial services organization along with a minimum 3 years of experience in any of the following disciplines. Data usage, Process Analysis, Process Improvement, Technology Development/Support
• Minimum of 5 years managing a diverse, high-performing team; experience working with the data systems supporting the various Sub-LOBs, including experience writing queries and analyzing related queries
• Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to understand business and technical functions, process information quickly and assess impacts to data elements. 
• Advanced MS Office suite skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, Project)
• Ability to interpret and apply standards and guidelines to large quantities of data elements in a fast-paced, highly efficient manner with high quality; Highly organized, keeping up with the ever-changing environment. Examples include new and improved tools and methodologies to capture and process metadata
• Minimal direction required. The Data Management Director is expected to be a self-starter who challenges the status quo and who can independently manage high volumes of data element metadata work while balancing large strategic initiatives

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

• Knowledge of Alteryx is a plus
• Master’s degree preferred
