Data Management Director manages the planning, designing, and developing of an organization's databases. Develops policies and procedures to lead and manage a team of database engineers. Being a Data Management Director designs and modifies procedures to ensure the performance, scalability, and security of databases. Monitors and optimizes database performance to ensure efficient data retrieval and processing. Additionally, Data Management Director evaluates existing database design to determine necessary updates and collaborates with stakeholders to determine future organizational needs.     Job Summary/Basic Function
    The Career Center at Millersville University is accepting applications for an Assistant Director, Career Management. This is a professional-level student success and academic support services position responsible for the management and activities of the career services program at the university.

    Located in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, Millersville University of Pennsylvania is one of the 10 public universities of Pennsylvania’s State System of Higher Education.     Annual Salary: $53,360.00, plus comprehensive benefits starting on the first day of employment, including:
    • Health insurance – Low bi-weekly premium. Employees pay 5% of bi-weekly salary for benefit coverage with ability to pay 2.5% when participating in the wellness program.
    • Dental insurance – Coverage is free to employee and dependents after 90 days
    • Vision insurance – Coverage is free to employee and dependents after 90 days.
    • Group life insurance - equal to annual salary (up to $50,000) at no cost to the employee
    • Voluntary Group Life and Accident Insurance – available for purchase at low rates for additional employee coverage as well as coverage for spouse and children
    • Long Term Disability Insurance – available for purchase at low rates with either a 90 or 180-day waiting period
    • Retirement – 2 plans to choose from
    • Tuition waiver – employee, spouse, and dependents are eligible
    • Vacation leave– up to 10.4 days accrued for the first year, increases to up to 15.6 days per year after first year
    • Personal leave – up to 5 days per year
    • Sick leave – up to 15.6 days accrued per year, including up to 5 days per year that can be taken to care for a family member
    • Holiday leave – up to 12 days per calendar year

    Required Qualifications
    • Bachelor’s Degree and two years professional experience working with students in a career education, workforce development, talent acquisition, or employment recruitment setting OR the equivalent combination of education and experience to successfully perform the duties of the position.

    Preferred Qualifications
    • Master’s Degree.
    • Prior experience administering an academic support service, internship, or career services program.
    • Demonstrated technical experience utilizing a CRM system or complex database systems (e.g.; Banner, Handshake, Starfish) for collecting data, maintaining records, creating queries, and compiling reports.
    • Evidence of ability to build a network of internal and external constituencies, preferably in Lancaster County region.

    Job Description
    Duties and Responsibilities:
    Plan and coordinate the administration and delivery of the career services program to enhance the career exploration, job search preparation, career readiness competency development, and career management activities of Millersville University students and alumni. This includes conducting individual and group career counseling, promoting and delivering educational programs and presentations, event planning, employer partner cultivation, and representing the university in matters relating to career services and employment trends.

    Career Services Program:
    • Develop, market, and provide career-relevant educational resources, programs, and other initiatives to facilitate students’ development of NACE career readiness competencies and support unit and student success team goals.
    • Conduct individual and group career counseling, incorporating and utilizing digital technology when necessary, to assist and prepare students for their employment search process.
    • Develop, promote, and deliver inclusive career counseling services to meet the career management and employment needs of all undergraduate and graduate students.
    • Counsel students who are undecided or changing their major, develop and lead career exploration programs and career development services
    • Administer career assessments and interpret student results.
    • Create, market, and conduct interactive, educational presentations on career exploration, resume writing, interviewing, job searching, career fair preparation, graduate school, and other career-management topics.
    • Conduct outreach and fulfill requests for specialized career programming and presentations to academic and administrative departments, student groups, campus and community groups, and other external audiences, customizing as appropriate (e.g. major-specific resumes, mock-interview programs.)
    • Coordinate arrangements, marketing, and logistics for career services programs and events, such as calendaring, registration, room scheduling, catering, invitations, and promotional materials.
    • Liaison with the Counseling Center, Learning Services, Academic Advising & Student Development and other student success team units to refer students, as appropriate.


    Employer Relations:
    • Monitor labor trends and modify employment-oriented services and activities accordingly.
    • Establish and maintain relationships with employers and academic departments to encourage the recruitment and hiring of undergraduate students, graduate students and recent graduates.
    • Collaborate with employer and community resource partners to promote employment and professional development opportunities for students and alumni.
    • Coordinate career fairs, including the annual Teacher Recruitment Day Consortium education job fair.
    • Participate in PASSHE-Career Professionals meetings, serve on sub-committees.

    Administrative and Technical Responsibilities:
    • Ensure program compliance with NACE Principles for Professional Practice for Career Services and Employment Professionals. Research and report on trends, best practices and standards in career services.
    • Lead the development, production and dissemination of appropriate digital and/or print materials promoting career services events, programs and career management resources.
    • Provide content, update, and maintain the overall integrity and functionality of the career services program webpages.
    • Implement new resources and technological tools that will assist students in their career exploration and job searching activities.
    • Contribute to the maintenance of and responsible utilization of career management system (CMS) information for students, employers, and academic departments. Update and run queries and reports. Facilitate student utilization of CMS for seeking employment opportunities (F/T, P/T and internship), assist academic departments in identifying opportunities for their students and alumni.

    Student Employee Supervision:
    • Select, train, and supervise (Career Services) graduate assistant and student employees. Delegate career services work to student employees ensuring the quality and timely completion of their work and approval of work log.
    • Prepare career services graduate assistant to conduct career counseling and educational programs on career services topics, including career exploration, employment search preparation, career fair preparation, and interviewing.
    • Train and prepare unit graduate assistants to conduct core service delivery, educational programs and classroom presentations on unit resources and career document reviews.
    • Coordinate graduate assistant outreach efforts to student groups and organizations requesting career services programs.
    • Encourage and guide the development of professionalism and customer-service orientation of student staff.

    Assessment:
    • Develop career services program strategic goals, objectives and metrics to assess student learning outcomes and progress in achieving desired program, unit, and institutional goals.
    • Develop and execute annual career services assessment plan. Report quantitative and qualitative data, produce reports on career services activities, survey results, and student learning outcome assessments.
    • Contribute to on-going unit program reviews, goal-setting and planning.

    Additional Departmental Responsibilities:
    • Participate as a member of the academic community on campus committees and in professional development activities, including involvement in state, regional, and national associations.
    • Participate in and assist with the execution of unit-wide events
    • Represent center and college programs and services at admission and orientation events.
    • Represent the center, college, and university at community events, speak to external organizations, develop and maintain business and community relationships by participating on appropriate boards and committees and in relevant community development initiatives.
    • All other duties as assigned.
