Job Summary:
The abundant and beautiful water resources in the St. Johns River Basin include 148 known springs, 1,400 lakes, numerous streams and rivers, and a complex groundwater system. As a Data Collection Specialist, you will be part of the St. Johns River Water Management District’s team that maintains a permanent hydrologic monitoring of the entire basin in the many stations where we collect water level, rainfall data, and stream flow.
The ideal candidate is detailed oriented, enjoys working outdoors and working independently, enjoys finding solutions to problems, and is interested in collecting data from natural environments. Your workplace includes the great Florida outdoors, with all its variety and wildlife. You will work with specialized electronics, sensors, and monitoring equipment, and your tasks will be guided by well-defined operating procedures with the support of a dedicated quality assurance team. Your work will provide the data foundation for the management of our water resources
Persons interested in applying for the position should also have the following skills: basic carpentry, basic electrical, off-road driving (4WD), boating and kayaking, attention to details and willingness to learn. Staff who begin at an entry level will have the opportunity to advance as they build skills and gain experience.

Minimum Qualifications:
A high school diploma or G.E.D., six years of experience in hydrology, open channel hydraulics, industrial mechanics, or electronics, four of which must have been in hydrology or open channel hydraulics; or formal education in hydrology, open channel hydraulics, industrial mechanics or electronics may substitute for work experience on a year-for-year basis; and a valid Florida Driver's License.
Physical Requirements/Working Environment:
Endure harsh outdoor environments, inclement weather, and remote locations; lift and/or move equipment; operate or learn to operate vehicles/vessels to access sites (e.g. ATV, airboats, marsh masters, and four-wheel drive truck).
Expectations: Maintain a priority of safety, communicate, and work well with others as a team, make effective, consistent, and defensible decisions in the field.
Licenses:
A valid Florida Driver’s License, Class E, is required.

Salary Range: $47,632.00 - $59,550.40
Starting salary is based on qualifications and experience.
