Data Modeling Analyst jobs in Oakland, CA

The R&D team at Voyage foods is looking for an intern to supercharge our data science and predictive modeling workflows. This intern will be a key member of the R&D team, working with autonomy on impactful projects. This internship will focus on building predictive models based upon data that has been collected in our R&D lab, as well as helping design systems to allow our scientists to quickly query data from past projects and workflows.

This is a position based at our Oakland, CA HQ location and will report to the Director of Research Integration.

What you’ll do

• Explore Machine Learning methods to build and improve our R&D workflows.
• Develop text-based generative AI to use their full potential for our needs.
• Mine R&D datasets and perform practical statistical analysis to identify areas for further development.
• Design experiments and draw significant conclusions aimed at improving our understanding of our core ingredient technology.
• Build prototype data tools for R&D teams that increase throughput and the quality of decisions.
• Effectively communicate your analysis and findings through interactive visualizations, documents and presentations.

What makes you successful / What makes a great candidate

• Experience in using Machine Learning methods and familiarity with chemometric data.
• Strong knowledge of Python and R.
• In interest and curiosity towards food technology.
• Strong statistics and mathematical skills.
• Conversational and written English skills for presentation, documentation and discussion.
• Currently pursuing a degree in Statistics, Mathematics or Applied Mathematics, or a related field.

Physical Demands

• Tasting and comparing the tastes of a full range of foods and food products (including dairy, fruits, vegetables, mushrooms, grains, nuts, meat, poultry, fish, shellfish, spices, and other foods) for different characteristics, such as appearance, smell, taste, flavor, and quality of ingredients.
• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer 

Compensation

United States-based roles only: This is a termed, non-exempt  position with an hourly range of $22.00-$25.00 per hour. At Voyage Foods, we approach each individual's compensation with a promise of fair market value and internal equity commensurate with experience and specific skill set.
