Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced CAT Modeling Analyst to join our team. The ideal candidate will have 3 - 10 years of experience in catastrophe modeling within the insurance industry. As a CAT Modeling Analyst, you will contribute to the evaluation and quantification of catastrophe risks, supporting strategic decision-making and enhancing our Underwriting CAT property lines.
Job Responsibilities:
- Utilize catastrophe modeling software (e.g., RMS, AIR) to conduct in-depth analyses of natural and man-made catastrophe risks impacting our property portfolio.
- Collaborate closely with underwriters, actuarial, and other stakeholders to develop and implement underwriting strategies based on model outputs and insights.
- Validate and refine existing catastrophe models to ensure accuracy and reliability; including standardizing data cleansing process
- Contribute to building out and enhancing J&J view of risk
- Stay informed about emerging trends and advancements in catastrophe modeling, integrating relevant insights into our risk assessment processes.
- Assist in the preparation of clear and concise reports, presentations, and discussions to communicate complex findings and recommendations to internal and external stakeholders.
- Engage with clients to understand their unique risk profiles and customize modeling solutions to meet their specific needs.
- Contribute to the ongoing improvement and development of proprietary tools and methodologies to enhance our catastrophe risk management capabilities.
- Analyze claims data to identify trends that could enhance underwriting and modeling accuracy
Education and Work Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Actuarial Science, or a related field.
- 2 - 10 years of experience in catastrophe modeling within the insurance industry, with a strong understanding of catastrophe risk concepts and methodologies.

Knowledge Skills & Abilities:
- Proficiency in running catastrophe modeling software platforms such as RMS, AIR along with advanced skills in statistical analysis and data manipulation.
- Familiarity with backend tables and data schema for RMS/AIR
- Relevant data/programming languages: SQL, VBA, R
- Experience with BI technology such as Qlik/Tableau/Power BI a plus
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and engage with clients and stakeholders at all levels.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritize tasks, and adapt to changing requirements.
