Being a Data Scientist interprets results from multiple structured and unstructured data sources using programming, statistical, and analytical techniques and tools. Collaborates with teams to understand each data analysis projects' underlying purpose, focus, and objectives. Additionally, Data Scientist designs, develops, and implements the most valuable data-driven solutions for the organization. May require a master's degree in computer science, mathematics, engineering or equivalent. Typically reports to a manager. The Data Scientist work is closely managed. Odyssey Systems is pursuing a new opportunity for a Bioinformatics Scientist to help support the mission in the execution of DoD medical research accomplished through the performance of clinical studies and programs located at Travis Air Force Base (AFB) David Grant Medical Center/Clinical Investigation Facility (CIF). ***Contingent upon contract award***
Duties include, but not limited to:
Minimum Required Qualifications:
Citizenship: Must be a US citizen
Clearance: NACI (Able to obtain)
Education:
• BA/BS Computer Science• Masters or PhD preferred in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, Computational Biology or related discipline
Experience:
• 3 years• Biological and medical experimental techniques, as well as scientific publication and research protocol development; Computer Science/Data Management/Data analysis
Preferred Experience:
• 5 years
Skills:
• Demonstrative understanding of bioinformatics knowledge, awareness of publicly available data sets and use, and clinical research designs is imperative to provide appropriate guidance for planning, designing, and performing clinical research studies.• Strong knowledge of database language(s) SQL, analytical scripting languages (R, Python, Matlab), data management tools, and experience with data processing, statistical analysis, and data visualization• Data management, curation, aggregation, or analysis of biomedical research or large clinical data sets
