    POSITION PURPOSE 

    As the Director of Data Intelligence and Security, you will be a pivotal leader responsible for safeguarding our organization's data assets and leveraging data intelligence to inform strategic decision-making. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of data security protocols, risk management, and the ability to harness the power of data to drive business insights. In this role, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the organization's data lifecycle, ensuring the efficient and secure handling of data from acquisition to disposal. Your responsibilities will encompass data governance, quality assurance, compliance, and strategic planning. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in data management, cybersecurity, data analytics, strategic planning, industry best practices, and the ability to align data initiatives with business objectives.

    This newly created position supports APH’s continued expansion and reports to the CIO. 

    This role is based out of our Phoenix Office, conveniently located off the 51 Freeway (Glendale Ave. and 16th St.).

     

    DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Team Leadership: 
      1. Manage and supervise the IT department, including data and technology support. 
      2. Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of data analysts, security professionals, and system administrators.
      3. Foster a collaborative and innovative team culture, encouraging continuous learning and development.
      4. Provide guidance and mentorship to team members to enhance their skills and capabilities.
    • Data Security:
      1. Develop, implement, and maintain robust data security policies, protocols, and procedures to protect the organization's sensitive information.
      2. Conduct regular risk assessments and vulnerability analyses to identify and mitigate potential security threats.
    • Compliance and Governance:
      1. Ensure compliance with data protection regulations, industry standards, and best practices.
      2. Establish and enforce data governance policies to maintain data integrity, accuracy, and confidentiality.
    • Cybersecurity: 
      1. Lead the organization's cybersecurity initiatives, including the development and implementation of security measures to safeguard against cyber threats.
      2. Stay abreast of emerging cybersecurity trends and technologies and implement proactive measures to address potential risks.
    • Data Intelligence: 
      1. Oversee the development and implementation of data analytics strategies to extract meaningful insights from the organization's data.
      2. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize data analytics initiatives that align with business goals.
    • Strategic Planning: 
      1. Work closely with senior leadership to align data intelligence and security strategies with overall business objectives.
      2. Develop and execute a comprehensive roadmap for data-driven decision-making and security enhancements.
    • Incident Response: 
      1. Establish and maintain an incident response plan to efficiently address and mitigate data breaches or security incidents.
      2. Conduct post-incident analysis to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective measures.
    • Data Governance: 
      1. Develop and implement comprehensive data governance policies, standards, and procedures to ensure the quality, integrity, and security of organizational data.
      2. Establish and enforce data governance frameworks to align with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
    • Data Quality Assurance: 
      1. Oversee the development and implementation of data quality management strategies, including data profiling, cleansing, and validation processes.
      2. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and address data quality issues.
    • Data Lifecycle Management: 
      1. Design and implement strategies for the effective management of data throughout its lifecycle, from acquisition to archiving or deletion.
      2. Establish protocols for data storage, retrieval, and archival following data retention policies.
    • Strategic Planning:
      1. Collaborate with senior leadership to align data management strategies with organizational goals and objectives.
      2. Develop and execute a roadmap for enhancing data management capabilities to support business initiatives.
    • Compliance: 
      1. Ensure compliance with data protection regulations, industry standards, and contractual obligations related to data management.
      2. Monitor changes in data-related regulations and implement necessary adjustments to ensure ongoing compliance.
    • Data Architecture: 
      1. Collaborate with IT teams to define and implement data architecture standards, ensuring alignment with overall enterprise architecture.
      2. Evaluate and recommend tools and technologies to support efficient data management.
    • Budget Management: 
      1. Lead the annual budgeting process, working closely with the CIO and CFO to establish and achieve the departmental budget.
      2. Monitor, analyze, and report on budget performance.
      3. Identify areas of improvement and implement cost-saving measures without compromising operational efficiency. 
    • Expense Management: 
      1. Oversight of expense management processes, including approval workflows, reimbursement policies, and cost control measures.
      2. Collaborate with departmental heads to ensure adherence of established budgetary guidelines.
    • Other duties as assigned.

     

    SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

    • 7 years in an IT, data security, cybersecurity, and data analytics role. 
    • 5 years in leadership roles, including a variety of responsibilities and team dynamics. 
    • In-depth knowledge of data protection laws, regulations, and industry standards.
    • Strong understanding of cybersecurity frameworks and risk management principles.
    • In-depth knowledge of data management principles, data governance, and data quality assurance.
    • Familiarity with data-related regulations and compliance standards.
    • Awareness of all levels of an IT department, functions, processes, and industry best practices. 
    • Ability to lead and inspire a diverse team toward achieving common goals. 
    • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. 
    • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. 
    • High level of attention to detail and accuracy. 
    • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. 
    • Proven track record of driving operational excellence and achieving performance targets. 
    • Proactive and collaborative approach to problem-solving. 
    • Experience with configuring SaaS applications to be HIPAA compliant. 

     

    EDUCATION, LICENSES, & CERTIFICATIONS 

    • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or related field required. 
    • Master’s degree preferred. 
    • Relevant certifications, including, but not limited to the following are a plus: 
      1. Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP). 
      2. CompTIA A
      3. CompTIA Network 
      4. CompTIA Security 
      5. Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
      6. Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH)
    • Experience with Salesforce is strongly preferred.
    • Knowledge of business intelligence (BI) tools, such as Tableau, Power BI, and other CRM platforms is strongly preferred.
