    Salary:        Starting at $6,769.00 monthly, commensurate with experience
              
    Overview: 
    Subject to management approval, establishes, implements, optimizes, and oversees enterprise cyber and information security capabilities; provide expertise in analyzing malware and malicious artifacts to understand their functionality and potential impact;  conducts and own processes to test Office’s resilience to cybersecurity incidents; monitors systems for vulnerabilities and address them based on criticality; collaborate with cross functional teams to train and educate employees on risk avoidance methodologies.

    Duties and Responsibilities:
    • Implement and maintain cybersecurity goals, requirements, strategies, policies, aligned with the Office’s objectives. Build relationships with cybersecurity authorities and communities. Create and maintain detailed documentation of threat hunting processes, findings, and incident response procedures. Provide expertise in analyzing malware and malicious artifacts to understand their functionality and potential impact. Conduct and own processes to test Office’s resilience to cybersecurity incidents.
    • Evolve the vulnerability management program, monitor systems for vulnerabilities and address them based on criticality. Monitor and respond to threats and potential security incidents. Periodically monitor cyber security crisis response plan and mitigation of cybersecurity related incidents.
    • Collaborate with cross functional teams to train and educate employees on risk avoidance methodologies. Collaborate with the incident response team to develop and enhance incident response playbooks, ensuring alignment with threat intelligence insights.
    • Supervises subordinates, projects, duties, and time.
    • Completes necessary education, training, and certifications to stay abreast of latest technologies effecting Illinois Secretary of State information security. Travels as necessary for education and meetings.
    • Performs other duties as required or assigned.
    Specific Skills:
    • Requires expert knowledge of cybersecurity policies, standards, frameworks, and methodologies.
    • Requires extensive knowledge of common cyber-attack techniques, such as phishing, malware propagation, lateral movement, and data exfiltration.
    • Requires extensive knowledge of IT operations (technologies for end user systems, enterprise soft-and hardware, information security, IT security, risk frameworks).
    • Requires ability to anticipate and resolve managerial problems.
    • Requires willingness to travel and possession of a valid Illinois driver’s license as required by individual positions within the class.
    • Ability to lift/carry, push/pull 0 – 50 lbs.
    Education and Work Experience:
    Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to the completion of four years college, preferably with courses in computer science, management information systems, mathematics or statistics; supplemented by a master's degree in computer science or a related field AND two years of managerial experience in a computer-based management information system.
