Job Summary:

This individual will provide supervision and direction for a multi campus health system. They will supervise a department that is responsible for 24/7 staffing and services.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:

• Maintain and safe and secure environment for patients and staff.
• Assists in implementing a strategic plan for security programs.
• Provides and monitors ongoing training of staff.
• Reviews all security reports recorded by Security Officers; conducts preliminary investigations for Public Safety Director and reports back appropriate information.
• Attends and conducts monthly meetings with Public Safety Officers and Leads.
• Develop and maintain relationships with community and law enforcement agencies and serves as a point of contact for situations requiring their support and services.
• Ensures adequate staffing levels are maintained for day-to-day operations.
• Prepares monthly schedule for staff.
• Identifies equipment, supplies and services issues; communicates with appropriate personnel, and follows through to resolve resource issues.
• Assist with access control systems, loss prevention, security surveillance, and parking management.
• Oversees the contracted Valet services.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

A minimum formal education of High School Diploma or GED is required. Associates of Bachelor’s Degree or certification equivalent with major or minor in Criminal Justice is preferred.

Three to five years of experience in security field or law enforcement field required (Healthcare Preferred)

• Valid Driver’s License.
• Current State of Connecticut Certification as a Licensed Security Officer.
• Successful completion of First Aid, CPR-AED and CPI certifications required and as a condition of continued employment.

Bristol Health Mandated Educational Requirements:

General orientation at time of hire. Fire/Safety/Infection Control annually. Similar programs deemed appropriate by management. Ongoing leadership training.

Physical Requirements:

Significant walking. Manual dexterity and the ability to perform a full range of body movements. Vision corrected to comply with State of CT driver’s license standards. Capable of hearing and verbally communicating.

Work Environment:

Normal patient care environment. Exposure to varied outdoor elements. Occasional exposure to patient elements. Stress related to confrontational interactions with patients and visitors.

Cognitive Requirements:

Mental flexibility to perform diverse duties. Good communications skills, written and oral and ability to follow written and oral instructions. Able to remain calm and make appropriate decisions in emergency situations. Good organizational skills along with basic computer skills.
