GENERAL SUMMARY :

The Utility staff position is responsible for the following : dish-washing, pot-washing; general kitchen cleaning duties;

storing food and non-food supplies; and other duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES :

• Maintains safe, sanitary, and orderly conditions in all work areas.
• Cleans all work areas according to proper infection control procedures.
• Sets up dish / pot washing areas.
• Performs all dish, pot, and utensil washing following all meals.
• Distributes and stores clean dishes, pots, and utensils according to procedure.

• Empties trash containers as required.
• Assists kitchen staff with storing food and non-food supplies as directed including breaking down all boxes before placing in trash receptacles.
• Completes all items on shift check-list.

OTHER DUTIES :

• Attends all mandatory staff meetings, in-services, education sessions, etc.
• Maintains a high level of customer service for our residents & their guests at all times.
• Uses all safety equipment & follows safety procedures according to GCV policies.
• Maintains high standard of personal hygiene & grooming; complies with GCV’s dress code (including wearing a hairnet, if requested)
• Completes all assigned cleaning and other tasks.
• Performs other specific work duties & responsibilities as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS :

• Ability to effectively communicate & follow instructions in English both orally and in writing
• Ability to perform simple mathematics.
• Experience with dishwashing and kitchen work preferred.
• High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
• Ability to work in close cooperation with residents, guests, visitors, families, coworkers, and Director Food & Beverage;

requires courtesy, tact, and graciousness.

Ability to function independently.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :

• Ability to stand / walk for 100% of the work day (4 8 hour shift).
• Ability to work indoors and outdoors as required.
• Must be able to see, hear, and speak or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to assure position requirements can be fully met.
• Must be a minimum of 18 years of age.
• Must be able to independently lift, balance, and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Must be able to stoop, bend, balance & reach frequently throughout the work day.
• Must have good manual dexterity for operating a fire extinguisher, telephone, and appropriate Food & Beverage equipment.
• Must be able to perform sweeping / mopping functions with ease.
• May be exposed to quick variance of hot and cold temperatures from ovens, freezers / coolers, dishwashing equipment, etc.
• May be exposed to industrial cleaning and other chemicals, dust, hot water temperatures, and offensive odors daily.
• May be exposed to communicable diseases and blood / body fluids that may contain HBV and HIV viruses.
• Must be able to maintain mental & visual attention to diversified operations;
• Must be able to function efficiently despite distractions and interruptions.
