    Reporting to the Vice Provost & Chief Data Officer within the AIRE office, the Data Quality & Governance Manager will partner with stakeholders and subject matter experts to establish key data definitions and ensure accurate data to support strategic planning, assessment, decision-making across the university. The Data Quality & Governance Manager promotes data literacy across campus, helping the university community locate key data sources, use consistent data definitions, and understand appropriate uses for data and its limitations.

    The successful incumbent will have strong analytical, project management, communication, and collaboration skills so that they can work with subject matter experts across the AIRE team and leaders from across campus including, but not limited to, Information Technology, Faculty Affairs, Human Resources, the Office of the Registrar, Student Affairs, and the Office of Research.

    Job Description

    Data Governance Program Development, Implementation and Management 50%
    • Assists data leadership in the development of policies, standards, and procedures for data governance.
    • Coordinates, schedules and facilitates the data governance council and other appropriate committees and ensures all actions are completed on time.
    • Develops and implements a data governance engagement program to improve data literacy across the University.
    • Works with the Functional Systems Analyst to ensure appropriate access is given to different users across campus.
    • Ensures all data related to core University characteristics is accessible and available for all appropriate stakeholders.
    Data Quality Processes and Implementation 30%
    • Develops processes and documentation to monitor and resolve any data quality issues.
    • Identifies, monitors, and reports data quality issues.
    • Evaluates data quality issues and makes recommendations based on functional area and system-wide needs.
    Data Dictionary Implementation, Administration and Support 15%
    • Partners with key offices across campus to develop and maintain a data dictionary for all university data in the data warehouse.
    Other Duties as assigned (5%)

    Position Requirements

    • This position is hybrid in which incumbent works on campus and remote based on a set departmental schedule.

    Required Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree PLUS three (3) years of relevant experience.
    • Prior work experience that required strong organizational skills, as evidenced by application materials.
    • Strong written communication skills as demonstrated by application materials and interview.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Master’s degree in a related field.
    • Experience in an institutional research or business intelligence setting at a university, including familiarity with the academic enterprise and knowledge of key issues and concepts in higher education.
    • Experience in Program or Project Management.
    • Knowledge of data governance concepts and processes
    • Knowledge of data warehouse architecture.
    • Knowledge of data visualization or business intelligence software (e.g. Tableau, OBIEE, Power BI, PeopleSoft Query and/or SQL Server etc.).
