    Job Title: IT Manager, Database Administration

    Job Type: Full time

    Location: 75% onsite in Pasadena, CA area

    Responsibilities/Duties:

    • As a Manager, Database Administration, you will implement and maintain overall database platforms, supporting the database environment of the client’s application platform, and other database strategies and standards for the organization.
    • Oversee the daily workflow of the database administration team.
    • Responsible to ensure database operations plans, policies, procedures, and transition/migration plans are consistent with IT departmental goals as well as alignment to overall company goals and objectives.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional team leads, including Applications and Infrastructure teams, and business stakeholders to ensure that the database platforms meet the organization’s requirements and can support its goals.
    • Ensures project and department milestones and goals are met on time and within budget.
    • Collaborate with 3rd-party Managed Services Provider to develop, maintain, and administer database operational and administrative procedures, to meet or exceed Service Level Agreements (SLA).
    • Provide expert level DBA knowledge, best practices, and oversight for both Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server teams.
    • Assist with defining and documenting best practices, methodologies, and tools to enable consistent, high quality repeatable delivery of services.
    • Provide engineering and technical expertise and oversight on all issues, performance work requests, system improvement efforts, and operations and maintenance activities.
    • Maintain knowledge of trends, developments, and best practices in DBMS and related technology.
    • Participate in regular database capacity planning related to database growth and system utilization, trend analysis and predicting future database resource requirements.
    • Evaluate current and projected database performance and recommend changes and enhancements as required.

    Required Skills:

    • Highly experienced and proficient managing Relational Database platforms including Oracle and MS-SQL Server.
    • Strong understanding of Oracle and SQL Server RDBMS architectures.
    • Hands on experience with implementation, upgrade, and tuning of large database environments.
    • Expert knowledge of HA and DR concepts and options, including database clustering and database replication strategies.
    • Expert knowledge in database backup and recovery concepts.
    • Knowledge of database monitoring solutions including Oracle Enterprise Manager and Quest Spotlight
