Halifax Health is seeking a Database Administrator/Developer I for the IT Department.
Under the direction of the Automation and Development Manager and the Sr. DBA Dev, the DBA Dev I maintains and supports all aspects of Halifax Health’s SQL Server database environment. The environment consists of 100 on premise virtualized, Microsoft SQL Server instances powering several hundred in-house and third-party enterprise applications. The incumbent will also assist the development team with database level software development tasks.
Bachelor's Degree in computer-related field and knowledge of SQL and or programming experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Evidence of ability to analyze and translate user requirements into specifications and prepare detailed design/implementation documentation.
Demonstrated ability in analytical reasoning and logical problem solving.
Knowledge of SQL Server design, build, configuration, administration, and troubleshooting.
Knowledge of scripting in T-SQL.
Preferred:
Knowledge of Microsoft Server CAL and Core licensing models and editions.
Knowledge and experience in DevOps practices, CI/CD and Agile.
Knowledge and experience in advanced SQL Server features and architectures including Cloud, AlwaysOn and containerization.
Ability to advocate for appropriate technology solutions and to continually advance the organization’s readiness and capabilities.
