Database Engineer plans, designs, develops, and manages an organization's databases to ensure efficient data storage, access, and security. Collaborates with users to design, code, test, debug, and deploy databases that meet requirements and organizational needs. Being a Database Engineer writes queries, stored procedures and functions for database development. Monitors databases' performance, scalability, and security and modifies procedures to optimize database designs. Additionally, Database Engineer evaluates existing database design to determine necessary updates, performance tuning, and integration requirements. Possesses comprehensive knowledge of database technologies and solid coding and computer system skills. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Database Engineer work is closely managed. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. To be a Database Engineer typically requires 0-2 years of related experience. Job Description
We are seeking a Database Engineer for a 6-12 month contract (with a strong ability to extend and or go full time) in Englewood, CO. This role will be onsite in the south Denver office from day one (no remote options available). This role will be responsible for writing complex SQL and PL/SQL (70-80% of the role will consist of this) and writing shell scripts (10-15% of the role will consist of this).
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of experience delivering data solutions on a variety of data warehousing, big data and cloud data platforms.
- 3 years of experience working with Data Warehouse environments
- Experience in writing complex SQL and PL/SQL
- Experience in writing shell scripts
- Experience with building data ingestion pipelines both real time and batch using best practices
- Experience with Cloud Computing platforms like Amazon AWS, Google Cloud etc.
- Experience working on Redshift/Snowflake is a nice to have
- Experience supporting and working with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment
- Excellent written/verbal communication skills.
Additional Information
This long term contract (with option to hire) will be located in Englewood, CO. This role will be performed onsite/ in the office (there are no remote options)
