Database Engineer plans, designs, develops, and manages an organization's databases to ensure efficient data storage, access, and security. Collaborates with users to design, code, test, debug, and deploy databases that meet requirements and organizational needs. Being a Database Engineer writes queries, stored procedures and functions for database development. Monitors databases' performance, scalability, and security and modifies procedures to optimize database designs. Additionally, Database Engineer evaluates existing database design to determine necessary updates, performance tuning, and integration requirements. Possesses comprehensive knowledge of database technologies and solid coding and computer system skills. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Database Engineer work is closely managed. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. To be a Database Engineer typically requires 0-2 years of related experience.     The Role

    Designs, models, documents, and guides the logical and conceptual relationship of data and database changes for complex applications. Analyzes needs and requirements of existing and proposed systems, and develops technical, structural, and organizational specifications. May create standards and/or do modeling to monitor and enhance capacity and performance.

    Must Have

    Bachelor's Degree and 2 years of relevant exempt experience; Master's Degree and 0 year of relevant professional experience

    One of the following may be used as an equivalent to Bachelor's Degree for Information Technology Related Positions Only:
    • NNS Apprentice School graduate
    • Navy Nuclear Power School (NNPS) graduate
    • Associate's Degree or other formal 2 year program and 2 years of relevant exempt experience or 4 years of relevant non-exempt experience
    • Military Paygrade E-5 or above military experience
    • High School/GED and 4 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant exempt experience
    • High School/GED and 8 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant non-exempt experience
    • A relevant professional certification can be substituted for a Bachelor's Degree.
