Job Description—FLOAT Assistant Teacher

Qualifications

• Must hold and maintain current CPR and First Aid certifications OR obtain them within first 90 days of employment
• Must be able to lift and carry at least 40 pounds.
• Must provide three references.
• Must pass a state and federal background check
• Must complete mandatory state trainings within first 90 days of employment

Responsibilities include but are not limited to

• Reports to Lead Teacher.
• Supervise and ensure the safety and well-being of the children at all times.
• Assist in planning and executing curriculum for the children in the classroom that is developmentally appropriate and helps children develop physically, cognitively, emotionally, socially and spiritually. 
• Assist in implementing the daily program.
• Assist in maintaining cleanliness of space including sweeping, vacuuming and cleaning. Opening and closing duties.
• Assist in maintaining safety and cleanliness of supplies and materials including sanitizing toys and materials on a regular basis.
• Assist assigned teacher in any way possible including but not limited to:
  • Diaper changes, meal clean ups, tasks delegated to assist the classroom
• Attend field trips
• Assist with decorating the room including bulletin boards.
• Attend schedule meetings
• Attend 20 hours of in-service training per school year as agreed upon with Director
• Be familiar with state regulations as well as with program policies of HopeCare.
• Meet expectations of classroom and teacher observations
• Meet and follow employee handbook
• Diapers and potty training
