About Us:

Ballington Academy is a Public Charter School Educating Students from Transitional Kindergarten to Fifth Grade. We Offer an Innovative Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) Curriculum for all Grades Using a Hands-on Project-Based Learning Approach, Teaching Real-World, 21st Century Skills. We are seeking a caring individual to help support our Students and Teachers in San Bernardino, CA.

Job Opportunity:

Under the general supervision of the After School Safety/Education (ASES) Coordinator, with in input from the school Principal, ASES Tutor/Aides will be responsible for supporting and implementing the various facets of the ASES grant. The Tutor/Aide will provide supervision, behavior management, snacks, academic support, and enrichment activities for students in the After School Program.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Adhere to Volunteers of America Policy and Procedures.
• Perform instructional support activities such as the presentation of lessons for students.
• Support students in the completion of their homework.
• Prepare instructional materials and lessons for general and special needs.
• Organize and teach learning and enrichment activities.
• Organize and teach enrichment activities.
• Assist students in using instructional materials and equipment.
• Perform clerical activities such as maintaining and organizing student records, student materials.
• Prepare student work areas.
• Supervise students to ensure safety.
• Improving student learning and social skills.
• Provide a safe learning environment.
• Improve attendance for the after school program and regular instructional day.
• Develops and delivers effective lesson plans.

Required Credentials, Abilities and Experience:

• Must pass background check for the state of California.
• Must possess a valid CA Driver’s License, automobile insurance, and pass company underwriting for driving approval.
• Must possess a high school diploma.
• Must be computer literate.
• Must be able to work well with children.
• Ability to operate independently.
• Must possess organizational skills.
• Must have the ability to interact with staff, the public, parents, and students.
• Must have excellent command of the English language - oral, written and business writing skills.
