Provides senior level administrative leadership in areas of curriculum development, institutional assessment and improvement, human resource, faculty development and performance appraisals, budget and finance, and facilities planning and management. Additionally, Dean of Communications requires an advanced degree. Typically reports to top management. The Dean of Communications manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. The Delta News is looking for a Chief Meteorologist who will lead our team in weather coverage. We are The Delta’s most trusted source for news, sports and weather information.
The successful candidate will be a Certified Broadcast Meteorologist and is expected to have the ability to forecast accurately, to live storm track, create and develop detailed and easy to understand graphics and to ad lib flawlessly on TV and across social media and radio.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
· Degreed Meteorologist must create and deliver The Delta News weather forecast following researched formats and action plans.
· Work with and lead a team of meteorologists to deliver life-saving weather information to our audiences 24/7.
· Must have the ability not only to forecast in weather market, but live storm track, using your skills to communicate not just data, but a forecast and its impact, in a way viewers and listeners will understand, and also record forecasts for our Alexandria, Louisiana station.
· Qualified candidates will be proficient in creating digital videos, social media engagement, ad-libbing live on TV, radio, live streams and Facebook Live.
· Must be willing to work extended hours during impactful, severe weather events.
· Must be able to pitch and create original weather content and environmental investigative journalism for television and digital platforms.
Requirements
WHAT YOU WILL BRING:
· Degree in Journalism, Communications, Science, or Other
· 2 years television weathercaster, live storm tracking experience
· Completion of Certified Broadcast Meteorology (CBM) program
· Requires strong computer skills, communication skills, social media skills
