Position Title: Adult Education Instructor
Reports to: Director of Adult Education
Term of Employment: Full-time Instructor for Fulton County and the Fulton County Detention Center – Does require travel between Fulton, Hickman, and Ballard Counties. Mileage reimbursement.
Work Location: Fulton County Adult Education Center and Fulton County Detention Center
Compensation: Compensation commensurate with years of experience, educational background, and the approved certified salary schedule of the West Kentucky Educational Cooperative Adult Education Program.
Qualifications: Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in education or a content related field. Must score within NRS Level 6 on the TABE11/12 A in Reading and Math. Knowledge of College and Career Readiness Standards and strong technology background preferred.
Job Description/Requirements:
● Provides instruction in literacy, adult basic education, GED® test preparation, English language acquisition, family literacy, Integrated English Literacy and Civics Education (IELCE), workforce preparation, integrated education and training, including career pathways, workplace education, and digital literacy.
● Actively participates in required professional learning with a growth mindset.
● Applies research-based instructional practices that incorporate the regular use of computers and other educational and emerging technologies.
● Is knowledgeable of reading, writing, and/or math instructional strategies.
● Uses instructional strategies, research-based instructional best practices, and edtech tools appropriate to the needs of the adult student.
● Uses a liquid syllabus for every class.
● Uses KYAE Lesson Plans, KYAE HyperDoc Lesson Plans, and other CCRS, TABE 11/12, and GED®-aligned lesson plans.
● Provides continuous, data-driven feedback to students and adjusts instruction to optimize student learning outcomes.
● Collaborates with colleagues to develop and evaluate curriculum and other instructional materials.
● Administers and interprets appropriate placement and diagnostic tests when necessary.
● Ensures instruction is aligned to diagnostic tests.
● Applies adult education principles and methods in the classroom.
● Plans learning experiences that are interactive and relevant to the specific workforce environment stated within the students’ career pathway plan.
● Customizes, develops, and delivers workforce-focused curricula and lesson plans.
● All other duties as assigned by the Director of Adult Education as needed for the success of the adult education program and progress of clients.
