Dean of Continuing Education manages administrative functions of the college of continuing education. Develops college strategic initiatives and participates in university long-term planning and policy setting. Being a Dean of Continuing Education leads college in fundraising and cultivating relationships with donors. Provides senior level administrative leadership in areas of curriculum development, institutional assessment and improvement, human resource, faculty development and performance appraisals, budget and finance, and facilities planning and management. Additionally, Dean of Continuing Education requires an advanced degree. Typically reports to top management. The Dean of Continuing Education manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. To be a Dean of Continuing Education typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience.     Southwest Virginia Community College (SWCC) offers career-training programs in numerous technical, industrial and medical fields at a reasonable cost, going so far as to even waive tuition for certain eligible students. Located in Cedar Bluff, Virginia, SWCC offers associate's degrees in such fields as business, education, general studies, liberal arts and science. These degrees are primarily intended for students who wish to transfer to a four-year university. SWCC also has associate's degrees that feature programs intended to lead directly to a career in fields such as Nursing, Radiography and Administration of Justice.


    Southwest Community College invites applications for Workforce faculty positions. The College seeks faculty who will adapt to a variety of teaching situations, can use technology to teach effectively, and will work effectively with students, staff, and others in a climate that promotes cultural diversity and student success.


    Other responsibilities include participation in the following: achievement of the College's mission and goals; upholding the College's values; and personal and program evaluation.


    Workforce faculty members are responsible for effectively planning and teaching courses in a classroom environment to students with a variety of academic backgrounds and experiences.

    May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
