Dean of Dentistry manages administrative functions of the college of dentistry. Develops college strategic initiatives and participates in university long-term planning and policy setting. Being a Dean of Dentistry leads college in fundraising and cultivating relationships with donors. Provides senior level administrative leadership in areas of curriculum development, institutional assessment and improvement, human resource, faculty development and performance appraisals, budget and finance, and facilities planning and management. Additionally, Dean of Dentistry requires an advanced degree of dentistry. Typically reports to top management. The Dean of Dentistry manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure.       Position Purpose
      Under the general supervision of the Head of School, lead the high school teachers and ensure robust curriculum is implemented to Colorado state standards. This role also serves as the academic and career advisor meeting with students and their parents each semester to update the Individualized Career and Academic Plan selecting courses that align to the desired college and/or career pathway. To provide support in programming at the college prep and college levels including robust career exploration in a dynamic early college high school mode

      Essential Performance Responsibilities
        Implements and monitors federal and state requirements and regulations pertaining to the instructional programs, professional development, and curriculum standards.
        Develops and directs school, community, and parent involvement programs as appropriate to the instructional programs
        Communicates the latest developments in curriculum and innovative instructional programs to improve student achievement.
        Assists in the recruitment and selection of certified personnel, oversees and coordinates the evaluation of certified and classified staff.
        Ensures that curriculum and instruction incorporates the experiences, culture, history, and perspectives of people from various cultures and backgrounds.
        Works with administrators and teachers to develop and implement extended day and summer school programs.
        Advise high school students by creating ICAPs, holding advising meeting, etc.
        Work with Head of School to build middle school and high school course grids.
        Works with college partners to develop pathways for associate degrees and certification requirements for graduates and collaborates with Registrar on high school graduation requirements.
        Directs the selection and adoption of instructional materials, textbooks, and media and software materials.
        Works with Head of School and Director of Instruction to plan, coordinate, and direct the professional development program and activities in the school, as well as continuing education for certified staff, promoting a focus on student learning and professional growth.
        Meet bi-annually with high school students and parents to build schedules, register for classes, and project a graduation plan towards high school graduation and an associate degree, post-secondary and/or industry level certification.
        Coordinates with administrators and other teaching staff members to ascertain individual student's abilities and needs, including students with special needs, and to familiarize stakeholders with guidance services.
        Encourages parental involvement in students' education and ensures effective communication with students and parents.

      Qualifications Profile
        Motor Vehicle Operator's License or ability to provide own transportation
        Master’s Degree with preferred experience in education at the high school level
        An understanding of High School curriculum and high school graduation requirements
        An understanding of partner institution degrees, certificates, and GT courses
        Understanding of pre-requisite and entrance requirements for specific college courses
        School leadership/administration or coaching experience preferred
        Familiarity with FERPA
